NO OVERTIME PAY FOR LOW-PAID MANAGERS

Working man can't catch a break.

Don't know how much more of this people are gonna take.

The rule was supposed to take effect Dec. 1st, so you know a lot of people were looking forward to getting that overtime pay bump.

And this isn't like a proposed minimum wage rate hike that would pay people $15/hr.

Basically, this new rule would've prevented employers from denying overtime to......"managers".......who would work longer than 40 hours/week.

That loophole's been exploited for years.

Just give somebody a title of a manager, pay them like an employee who isn't a manager, and not have to pay them overtime simply because they're a "manager."

Even though they're probably not making more than $25,000/yr.

Disgusting.

Obama is a bitch. Nobody respects him or has any level of fear of him. This is what happens when you elect a pussy to be president.

I mean who didn't see this coming? I work in an industry(news) where they hire these kids to do waaay more than I do for way less pay and they'll make them feel good by saying they're salaried employees. These niggas ain't trying to pay nobody lol. I'm just glad I'm hourly and get my fair share of overtime.

If you feel like your employer is taking advantage of you then get a new job. The title of manager shouldn't mean more than common sense.

Don't bother with the whining of "there are no jobs out there".

I don't understand why you would accept a job where you are salaried at 20-40k range. Right now as an financial sales manager at a staples I make 42k a year but I'm hourly. Though in NJ if you make anything less then 50k you are automatically but as hourly.

In general for other states don't accept a salaried position at such a low pay rate.

Damn.

So these people are getting played in more ways than one huh?

Guess they don't realize their worth and/or have bad negotiating skills.

Kinda missing the point of the thread, but I agree to an extent.

However, I think that most people working as managers who fall under this category probably can't afford to just walk away unless they have something else lined up.

Also, it's not really about them getting "promoted" to manager.......it's about giving them the "title" of manager to avoid paying them overtime.

They wont be able to emotionally handle that

That's what I'm thinking.

Looking forward to that pay bump just to have it taken away from you at the last minute???

Wouldn't be surprised if some of them snap.

Especially considering how stressful the holidays can already be.

The problem is people think that being a salaried worker>>>>>>hourly worker and they just accept the plate of shit they been offered.

There is no reason when offered a job you shouldn't know exactly how much you should be paired. There is to much information on average salaries for most job that you should be able to get exactly what you think you deserve.

Can't really blame Obama for this.

I don't think any other president has even made an attempt to address this.

That's all on the courts.

If he wouldn't have been such a bitch he could have gotten more of nominees appointed to the federal courts. You'll be hard pressed to find a president who had as many judges blocked as him. The man had no spine and no balls. The republicans punked his bitch ass for 8 years. Decisions like this from the federal courts are a direct result of his bitchassness.

People fall for the banana in the tailpipe. You graduate college making 25,000 or less a year but think you're doing something because you aren't getting an hourly paycheck. In my industry these kids come in with dreams of being the next Network reporter only to have their dreams dashed after signing a 3 year contract bringing in less than 25,000 a year. Hourly will always kill salary every time

This isn't about Obama. He's the one that passed the bill. It's more about further showing the Congress House and Courts he was trying to work with will bite against anything he attempted to pass

That's obvious but I'm talking about the people that this law truly affects.

I remember my coworker said that he was a supervisor on salary at this box factory. They used to work them 40+ hours. At the end of the year, his workers used to gross more than him.
