It's not the only way but it's the way to keep the rappers you like able to make music you enjoy. That's what so confusing about rap fans. Niggas will complain all day about the type of music they like not being made, then complain about paying for music in general as if the shit doesn't cost money to produce and put out.

@A1000MILES so do you think with your argument there shouldn't be album threads stickied on The Reason UNTIL the records hit the shelf?

Example: Pusha's album thread. I haven't posted in there 'cos I intend to buy a hard copy of the album this week and listen without DL'ing a free link .. . I always resist the urge to listen to an album of an artiste I like before he drops officially

Well Ion see a problem with discussin and puttin the spotlight on an anticipated album before it drops...And I ain't gon act like I don't/didn't ever download shit...But if I like an artist and they drop an album, and I get money, I'm gonna buy it...Een in those threads I mostly just listen to the youtubes now, cause by the time I find/get a link it's dead...But like with Wale, I ain't listen til I bought it...MCHG, I listened to the youtubes then bought it...I bought Dirty last album off Amazon...Or een back when Krit dropped Return of 4 Eva, it was free but you had the option to donate whatever for it...I gave that nigga 20...I bought King Remembered In Time too...If niggas want music they can value, put value on the music to help the folk pushin it push more...This Nipsee shit is just dope though, I'm not een a fan of his like that...I knew he'd get off a few hundred but this nigga sold out in days...That's crazy to me...Like I said, if I had an extra hunned right now, I'd get the shit...

To be real, quality wise I'd cop this for the hundo if I had the change, nip$ey is a smart nigga $100.000 off just a 1000 of ur sole fan base on a proven product will move... Not every1 in the world is broke especially out here in CA, I spend $100 on day to day expenses, I respect the outgoingness to build his own and he's the best rapper out here in California word to Kendrick Lamar...

You come out here to Cali niggas fux wit Nipsey a lot more than Kendrick actually... That's why he's on some core fan base shyt he knows he can dedicate more to a smaller group and keep it 100 than sign with an MMG or Bad Boy and get pigeonholed like these new rappers... I think since Snoop or Dre hasn't took Nipsey under their wing, that only other guy I could like seeing him link with is T.I.... If not keep it independent

What is a mixtape but songs that didn't/couldn't make an album?...Mixtapes aren't supposed to be fuckin albums...That trend happened cause niggas can't get a buzz without givin out free music or going viral these days...What he just did is a slap in the face to folk who de-value rap music and its fans...He not disrespectin his fans, how stupid would that be?

Let's not act like Pusha and Drake didn't turn their mixtapes into EP's to sell in the store. Guess what? They only charged $7!

I'm a fan off Nip, but no way in hell I'm dropping $100 for a fucking CD

I still can't knock the hustle though, and Marathon 3 still hasn't dropped yet.

Pusha and Drake are signed to major labels...Those labels distributed and printed those tapes...This nigga did this himself...His clothing line is his...His concert revenue is his...Say he spent 5 dollars per hard copy...5,000 outta pocket plus the discounted ticket/shirt/hat...So, let's say he spent 10-12,000...He just turned that into 100,000 that is HIS...By selling directly to his fans off paypal and in person...In days...Nigga...That shit...Is amazing.

Now..Let's look at it from the fan perspective...

If he just sold this tape for 10, cool...Then let's say separately...The shirt was worth 20, the hat 30, and the concert ticket 30...And those are bargain prices...If you bought all the items separately you'd be spending 90 dollars...He only actually made 10 dollars off a 90 dollar discount package...Have you been cheated?

You got a point. The question is when does the concert take place? Also my brother is working on his own clothing line, and I know first hand it doesn't cost much to manufacture clothing unless it's something expensive like Couture, or Egyptian cotton, so he probably didn't spend that much. Overall, it's a nice package.

Also, Drake wasn't signed when he did So Far Gone.

You niggas kill me with this broke nigga mentality. I dont care how much money ive got. Aint no way in hell im droppin a hunnid on a disc.

Nigga my pops would beat my ass if he found out and im a grown ass man.

Fuck outta here with that BS Nipsey.

All talk.

Niggas pay $70 for a floyd mayweather fight they can get for free.

Your bitch ass would pay $100 for the album if you had the chips and you were a stan, you just don't fit into those 2 categories.

Props to Nipsey for being a smart business man..

Niggas buy $250 jordans... $300 Lebrons... $250 call of duty limited edition games and shit... But if a NIGGA come up with the same strategy, niggas wanna bash it.

Fuck niggas stay broke.

I watched the fight for free. Now I would have payed to see it live. Can't front there. PPV ain't my thing.

Nipsey was smart with it. Can't even lie. It was a risk and he was rewarded for it. You get rich when you take risks.

Niggas is paying $250 for Jordons, when the materials today are no where near as good as it was in the 90's?

I can't knock his hustle. And when I was younger and living at home with my parents I used to go record shopping for funk/soul records to sample at used recoed stores and I have spent $100 on records (vinyl). There's people out there that spend that kinda money for things they like.

Here's a link to a Diamond LP thats going for $100+. It came out in 1992 and is hella rare on vinyl.

Drake was definitely signed already...You don't get Lil Wayne on 6 or 7 songs on a free fully mixed/mastered project without already being in the family...And when it was re-released it was a good business move, but naw, all that money didn't go to him...Of course, he made more than 100 k though in royalties...Best I Ever Had, Forever, and Successful were huge...

Bullshit logic in this case... Ain't no one complaining about paying for music...

The argument is that u a dumbass if u pay $100 for some free shit...
