The highest selling and most high praised artists are the "realist" that we have in a minute, so I don't really understand his point

I mean, What does "realness" even mean. Its entertainment. Some still tie in references to real sht tho. Its the same ole thing we get it sht is movin on regardless.

Nas my nig, but I still wish he would kick the more positive side of the message saying ' Hip Hop is still alive' (regardless of how popular it is to over-commercialize it)

It don't get no "realer" than releasing an album titled N. I. G. G. E. R on a major record label . .. And not standing down on the album title change (its still Untitled)
 
nas the homie and all but how you gon say the realness dead but then cash in on collabing with plastic artists like he has done in the past 2 to 3 years. hip hop lost realness but you collabing with nikki coonaj. all he had to do was smash and keep it moving. he ain't have to spit his bars and cash in if the "realness" is what hes repping.
