I disagree. Nas isn't really talked about amongs the casuals. The only thing they know from him is Made You Look, Got UrSelf A Gun, Thief's Theme and etc. A lot of folks says he fell off and I disagree with them on that, too.

Well the new generation know Nas from "Daughters" because he debuted it on 106 and Park and it was on the countdown for a while, plus SummerJam, and of course the Nicki Minaj video.

Nas has been on a lot of MMG projects so the streets know the voice and the name...casual rap fans may not go out and cop but I'm positive that there are a lot of HipHop heads and curious people who will.

I forgot about that. I had serveral conversation about hip hop. Everytime I say Nas is the best Hip Hop Artist dead or alive, they say the same thing. Nas fell off after God's Son. I'm like these niggas don't like when Hip Hop artist mature and etc, but whatevs. You're right about him branching out but he's been doing that for little over a decade.

Swear fo' God me and brother was having a convo about Nas and he said the same thing but then he can sit and listen to

2-Chainz and laugh at the lyrics.

It seems like these last 3 albums from Nas all had themes (HipHop, Racism, Life) and with this one he's going to tackle a lot of his personal issues which is cool but in this era of swag over substance I don't know if it will have much mainstream success however I do see him getting his mandatory Gold and a possible Grammy nod.

I think it'll go gold within a month, 2 tops.

He got a nice buzz and been killing his features, I don't think he needs a strong single because most of his fan base are mature HipHop heads who ain't gonna cop an album just because they hear it on the radio a million times.

i don't agree. hip hop heads gonna buy this album without hesitation... r u not gonna buy it?

What don't you agree with?

you said that most mature hip hop heads aint gonna buy the album.. maybe you mistyped something.

What I mean is that mature HipHop heads ain't gonna buy an album just because they hear a Hot single on the radio so from that perspective I don't think Nas needs a big single like a lot of younger artists do who have younger fan bases.

To threadstarter:

Stop worryin Dog, the world knows to Cop Life Is Good on July 17th so why would we not?

Nas is Hip-Hop and regarded as one of the Major greats in our Culture.

Plus him creating "Ether" back in 2001 definitely helped solidify his credibility (trust me bruh, Asian kids at my school were talking about his song and were reciting the lyrics they thought were his toughest bars in that diss so... lol as far as his impact... I'm just sayin).

Now in my opinion if he does the BET awards this Sunday then, bhewwwwwwwwww (baseball shootin into the air) he'll be on track to be doin Em number's (680k-740k the first week).

I'm not really a sales predicting type of person but he already has at least 300k-400k the first week.

Nas' singles are dope, don't let Chart positions declare what is hot or what'll be successful to you.

9 times out of 10, The Billboard positions really serve as a sense of awareness in the diversity of a song's "reach" to a larger audience of people.

Plus Em has had some Top 20 singles not necessarily reach #1 and his album sold way past what the singles did.

Plus Accident Murderers is too dope of a track not to give him the recognition for being acknowledged as a Dope Artist (I'm Super feelin that track and his word play on there).

But yeah everybody Hyped up to go and get this Nas album and trust me his appeal does reach.

He good, the release date timing is on his side with this album.

Do over 100-175k first week...and go Gold in a couple of months.

Album #10.

Most artists don't even make it to album #5 but Nas doubled up, if this project is successful which I truly believe it will be then you have to have Nas in your Top 3 IMO.

It might do more 200-275K due to the fact he has a loyal fanbase...granted Im not up on radio or music channels to know whether he getting the play deserved that would push up those numbers.

He's not getting the play he deserves on traditional radio but he's in rotation on sattelight radio and they play his Vids on

MTV Jams. Are you saying 200-275 first week or 200-275 total?

Righteous post.

I had a little concern when I saw the track listing because he didn't have any teen-freidly rap features or the smorgasbord of Big-name producers that catch the eye and make your heart skip a beat but I like the R&B guests he picked.

I'm comfortable with the release date, he doesn't really have any competition in that area but it's not really a Summer album.

I hope we get a B.E.T performance too, that would be a nice appetizer and maybe he can give Minaj another tounge-down to get the Twitterhead tweeting.

I think Nas will go gold 1st week..

I got a feeling about this album..

I honestly believe the world is finally catching up to Nas..

This will be the album that wins his 1st Grammy..

I'm thinking Grammy too just based on the level of lyricism he's shown lately and NoID's production.

what were his total numbers for his last few albums? I would assume they all went gold.

All Gold

Life is good will easily go gold. His last three albums have all gone gold without the help of a hit single.

As long as he doesn't try to name his album nigger again, he'll sell 600-700k for life.

Plus a lot depends on the critical reception toward the album. The mainstream and hipster critics have loved everything he's done over the last year or so. If he gets a lot of great reviews from the non hip hop critics you'll have a lot of people buying the album to see if he acutally made a great album.

Who has an update on Distant Relatives numbers? It gotta be at at least 200k now.

I don't want to be overly optimistic. If Nas does 150k first week that's a win in this climate. He will reach about 650k and stall out.
