Well the new generation know Nas from "Daughters" because he debuted it on 106 and Park and it was on the countdown for a while, plus SummerJam, and of course the Nicki Minaj video.
Nas has been on a lot of MMG projects so the streets know the voice and the name...casual rap fans may not go out and cop but I'm positive that there are a lot of HipHop heads and curious people who will.
I forgot about that. I had serveral conversation about hip hop. Everytime I say Nas is the best Hip Hop Artist dead or alive, they say the same thing. Nas fell off after God's Son. I'm like these niggas don't like when Hip Hop artist mature and etc, but whatevs. You're right about him branching out but he's been doing that for little over a decade.
Swear fo' God me and brother was having a convo about Nas and he said the same thing but then he can sit and listen to
2-Chainz and laugh at the lyrics.
It seems like these last 3 albums from Nas all had themes (HipHop, Racism, Life) and with this one he's going to tackle a lot of his personal issues which is cool but in this era of swag over substance I don't know if it will have much mainstream success however I do see him getting his mandatory Gold and a possible Grammy nod.
