because we are here and already know the culture and the opportunities are there. that is why any place in africa you go the people will say their are opportunities here.... the black community just doesnt take advantage of them.

Anyway, the Africans at my job are working here so they can retire early and/or fund their businesses via remittances. They travel home frequently for at least a month at a time, and most have plans to go back home (for good) in the near future. The question about Africans needing help shows a lack of information. I will say this: America's self-proclaimed greatness/prosperity/opportunity have a direct correlation to the abject tyranny/poverty/corruption of the third world.

To your last point, fear or being "broken" aren't necessarily factors in many pan-africanists decisions to go to Africa. Ironically, fear is more of a factor for those who don't want to go. It's natural to fear what you don't know, however, it's weak to let fear stop you. Personally, I'm a realist, and I've done my research. Some think that going to Africa means living in a mud hut in the jungle, but places like Botswana are pretty comfortable. Parts of South Africa have western amenities. Same for Namibia. But I know that people don't believe what I say or type, that's why in my original post in this thread I included going to the Caribbean Islands. Dominica, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago are all nice and westernized, but they are still culturally distinct and aware of their African ancestry.

But maybe I'm just a daredevil. I've been to many places that most people won't go. I've seen their villages, and I've spoken their languages. Kwaheri Rafiki.

my cousin is half Trini she was down there this summer with her moms . she said some parts of port of spain were off limits

I use to visit port of spain regularly, go to football games at the Hasley Crawford stadium for Inter Col Football games for secondary schools every year. Before i finish senior school there, Port of Spain was normal.

The Syrians run trini @the top. A top lawyer got assassinate earlier this year. But Trinidad is not only about Port of Spain. A lot of fresh water Yankees think we from the south don't have resources.

You visit my area an you will witness all the Oil and Gas companies and a Liquefied Natural Gas plant, a Asphalt Lake, Mud Volcanoes etc etc. And then there is still San Fernando, Penal, Fyzabad, Point a Pierre.

I am going home in May for borough day. Anyone of alyuh that aint crazy can come an experience the real trini vibes. Its actually a blessings when northerners stay the fuck away from us in the south because trouble follows them.

I'm from the states. I just do shit though. I walked through some rough parts of Port Au Prince as well. IDK people are people to me, most don't want trouble and neither do I. blending in >>>> standing out, that's rule no. 1 to safe travel.

once on soil there, straight down southern trini in my parent crib with some calalloo and stew chicken , paleau, buss up shot, roti etc etc waiting on the stove hot.

Whenever you decide to hit trinidad, try going down the southern peninsula. they building a highway from san fernando to point fortin straight. hit the asphalt lake.

That's how you get found out. You can learn Kreyol like I did, but you can't copy their accent. They know instantly. I just love my people. Black folks sense good vibes. The people in Carrefour were very nice to me when I went to Haiti.

I hate to say this but you can tell the individuals that haven't been outside of the US before in this thread.

America has a lot of bullshit with it but there is a reason so many people risk everything to come to this country. I've lived in Japan and love it there but it has it's issues, I practically have family in Vienna Austria and they have issues there also. I've been to a couple of countries in West Africa and the people were beautiful and friendly but they have there issues as well.

Every place has issues but America is no doubt from my travels one of the most free places I've ever encountered. A place where you have the freedom to openly criticize and challenge the government if you believe it's wrong, a place where you can actually own weapons legally, a place were you can actually have a chance if poor to become a millionaire. The rights and opportunities a lot of us americans squander many others literally die and fight to have.

I'm not gonna lie and say I've never even to this day thought of living abroad but it's more so to live more comfortable with the money I've said and invested. Not because of my rights being infringed on. Believe me, I've had my issues here but I know that it could be worse because I know people who have it worse and has seen it 1st hand in other countries

That's just some examples of the freedoms Americans have that I thought of quickly off the top of my head. It's funny how people are quick to take everything literally when it's convenient for their argument. Lol. This is stuff that us as Americans would think any and everybody would and should have but some places just don't.

I mean you have some countries where people aren't even allowed to practice their right to believe in whatever religion that want to without fear of being killed. You have some countries that are killing people just because they are homosexual with little to no recourse from the local law or government. The reason it's so easy to pull a foreign chick is because a lot of countries treat women with way less respect than they get treated in America. Men from America are so used to having to actually have a bit of game and being a bit more considerate to the fairer sex and that's why it's so much easier when you go to these countries to hook up with these ladies. Lol. Females in a decent amount of these other countries get treated awful. There are hundreds of things that Americans take for granted everyday that other people around the globe wish they could have or do.

No matter where you go there will be oppression and racism because it's human nature to fear something you can't understand. No place is perfect

3 of my aunts came to United States in the early 80's. 2 made Maryland their home and my oldest aunt settle in Brooklyn before buying a house and moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, in 1995.

From my understanding, a good bit of trinis began migrating more into Maryland in the 90's, along with Guyanese and of course dem yardies (Jamaicans) (Job Opportunities). 3 of my 1st cousins went to the school and was in the same class with Dominic Dawes & Steve Francis @ Blair High school. Sports was good to, especially football (Soccer to the yanks). Langley Park in Silver spring had a lot of islanders in the 90's. Diverse.

I am in a good situation. I am doing good here stateside.

In Trinidad, there is really no worries for me. And I have dual citizenship, so if a war pop off, ill be drinking carib and eating bake and shark on the beach back home in trini, palancing.

I have said it also. you are not aware of your basic civil liberties if you think living elsewhere is better.

yes, we have to deal with systematic oppression but most of it is allowed because we can't agree on how to fight back or how to unify.
