Ok. I understand what your saying now.alissowack;939670 said:What I mean by what I say is this. I can obey everything that the Bible says and know the morals to be true, but I can't say that because I am morally upright, that the circumstances of life will be in my favor. I can practice good morals and be like Job for the rest of my life. I can be broke, unemployed, suffering from some terminal disease, etc. and still not earn the "earthly" benefits of practicing good morals. And there are those who are "bad" that are successful and wealthy; spent their entire lives "breaking the rules". So in that sense we are not in a position to say what morals are suppose to do. But I agree that there is a consequence for disobeying in respect to God.

Why is stealing wrong, what is your reasoning?
ThaChozenWun;940179 said:Because energy manifested itself into a living body. The difference being is our living body is controlled through the mind. Though we are made of energy our minds have the final say in those types of decisions. Our minds are what feed and control our conscious, that is what determines one morals.

whar67;940201 said:Sure. Most of our morality is based on a rather simple premise .... don't be a prick to the person near you. Since humans are a social animal and most of our adaptive success comes from collaboration with others having a system that helps group act together is a massive advantage.
Empathy, guilt, laughter, and stress all of these are simple to explain with evolution and contribute, along with other traits, to explain morals. Empathy makes one aware of an other's pain. Guilt makes one want to avoid inflicting harm. Laughter and joy tend to be found from being with others and actively make us seek out others to be with. Stress which most often arises from conflict is something most try to avoid.

VIBE86;940313 said:Because it is a sin. It is wrong in God's eyes, it is one of the commandments. When you steal, does it feel good? For most normal people, no it doesn't. I've stolen plenty when I was younger. It was stupid, I felt very bad when I did it. Not only did I just steal, that's a loss of money for the person/store. It's not only wrong in the bible but in our society as well, you go to jail for theft.

BiblicalAtheist;940296 said:Okay sounds alright, but what about people who experience no such guilt? Does it mean its okay for them to steal since they don't suffer the same plight? How would explain to them why stealing is wrong?
BiblicalAtheist;940327 said:Okay, say you're starving and none to extend their hand to you. Do you steal food or just starve to death? Would you feel guilt then or would your animals instincts to eat override the guilt? Hard to answer I know because you are not in that perilous situation right now, but its something to think about anyway.
God has a name though and it's not energy.BiblicalAtheist;940307 said:Energy has always been here. It is like what you call god, no beginning or end.

God is life, God is love, God is light, God is holy, God is righteous, God is just, God is pure, God is good, etc; are just some of the attributes of His person and character.
No where in His word does God describe Himself as being "energy".
BiblicalAtheist;940349 said:Yeah but sometimes its nice to talk to actual human beings, not just ink on a page.
