Middle class keeps on dwindling the economy will collapse and it will be much more worse than the great recession of 2008-2009. Middle class has always been the engine of this country look any part of American history when this country thrive and prosper ,the middle class grew whether it was the 1990's or 1950's. Without that middle class growth the bottom will just fall out.

I think medical bills are now the number one cause for filing for bankruptcy

Than wages are stagnant...the typical worker isn't making any more than they were making in the 70s

Also the housing market crashed wiped out a lot of the middle class, especially the blk middle class

That was my point from my first post.. I am not okay with mediocrity.. No one should be okay with it.. I'm from the projects man.. I wasn't dirt poor but the projects is the projects.. I made a conscious decision at a very young age to better my circumstances and do it in a way that would not threaten my freedom or my well being.. In other words I decided I wasn't going to hustle like a lot of the dudes i grew up with..

It's ultimately a personal decision. You have to ask yourself what do I want out of life. Once that is established go out and get it.. And never mind what anyone has to say about it.

I find it ironic that the same people who are okay with mediocrity will say someone is trying to "stunt" because they want better for themselves. Just cuz you (not you @Rasta. in particular) are okay with being regular does not mean that anyone else should be okay with that.

One thing that is still true about this country. Is if you work hard there isn't anything you can't accomplish. This isn't true for some other countries in the world. So the fact that people want to sit back and wait for the government to better their situation is beyond me.

A person may have had an excuse 20-30 years ago but now? You have the internet. Everything you need to know about anything is at your fingertips.. You don't even need a computer and we all pretty much have smart phones. The choice to be a bum is exactly that.. A choice..

The black middle class has been devastated since 08. A great example is Queens,NY at one point blacks had the highest median family income of all groups but since most black wealth is in homes when the homes went under a lot of the wealth left.now Asians and whites have eclipsed blacks in Queens and the amount of Black Queens neighborhoods have decreased

I can't understand how ppl believe America is still this great land of opportunity when the middle class is shrinking and social mobility here for the last 40, 30 yrs is low compared to many other developed countries

Not to say hard work will not get you anywhere. It can. And living here beats living in Iraq ..but statistically speaking where you live, your race, your parents income, etc matters more

Than if you suffer a medical emergency and you already on the brink of poverty, you are going to be in debt for years
