Yea the struggle is real for a lot of ppl, especially if God forbid you get sick

I think medical bills are now the number one cause for filing for bankruptcy

Than wages are stagnant...the typical worker isn't making any more than they were making in the 70s

Also the housing market crashed wiped out a lot of the middle class, especially the blk middle class

I'm shocked ppl aren't angrier

They are, but at the wrong people.

i say its a good thing..

niggas aint about shit.. all they wanna do is march and sing old ass church songs..

this means white folks is losin they shit and realizing who they real enemy is..

they like to fuck shit up when they feel they gettin cheated and mistreated.. so im all for it. lol

I can agree with this

Maybe once enough ppl start to feel the struggle things will begin to change

I can't understand how ppl believe America is still this great land of opportunity when the middle class is shrinking and social mobility here for the last 40, 30 yrs is low compared to many other developed countries

Not to say hard work will not get you anywhere. It can. And living here beats living in Iraq ..but statistically speaking where you live, your race, your parents income, etc matters more

Than if you suffer a medical emergency and you already on the brink of poverty, you are going to be in debt for years

Wish ppl would wake up

Demonizing the poor, preaching American exceptionalism and trickle down economics...this is how politicians get ppl to vote against their own best interest

The last transformative figure with the right idea in mind was MLK Jr with his war against poverty campaign ...than ever Malcolm X was having his doubts about America's economic system...see what happened to them

I agree with you.. I've always said the the socioeconomic impact of policies going back to when blacks were still slaves still has an impact today. Ultimately though I'm a realist.. And realistically speaking there isn't much we can do about systematic racism in the short term outside of revolt.. But what we can do is educate ourselves.. Work harder and smarter knowing the system isn't geared toward our success. And push forward. That's the only way in my opinion..

I've been vocal about home ownership and dudes wanted to make jokes.. As a homeowner the only benefit I see if the little tax break you get at the end of the year outside of that the rest is bullshit it's all bullshit. It's like musical chairs.. When the music stops if you're on the wrong side you're assed out. How one recession wipes out a whole demographics largest source of wealth should tell you something.

Smarten up everyone.. Think critically about life and you want out of it.. And go after it aggressively..

I doubt niggas even look at it from this perspective. Like they've set our ceiling only to a certain point, we can't get over that hump.

Good post

Makes me think of my nephew and nieces. How they go to predominantly white schools and have been made to feel less than welcome. Than they see what happened in Ferguson and more recently in Chicago.

We make sure to shower them with love and encouragement. And they get the "as a Black child you are going to have to move smarter and work 10x harder than..."

I just hate that that was the speech my parents gave me and that's looking like that's the speech they will pass on to their kids

Not to say we should shy away from hard work, just hate for our children there's little room for error and they have to almost be super human

And while you're probably right, racism and systemic racism isn't going anywhere any time soon, we are members of the electorate, our local politicians answer to us... like other minority groups we need to be pooling our money and or voting together putting people in office with our best interest in mind

We are doing that t o extent but I feel like too many of us are still too politically disengaged

Maybe I'm wrong, but also feel as though those us who have made it aren't doing enough with our time and money, especially in terms of youth outreach. And the same with the last two generations before us. Once MLK Jr died we dropped the ball

Many of the blk professionals I talk with look at the youth of Southside Chicago and Detroit no different than a Don Lemon ...

It's a sad state of affairs to be real.. It took us generations to get here.. And it'll take generations to get past it.. But to be honest if you look at how things were lets say 50 years ago to how they are now. You can see some things haven't changed.. But overall you can see some tangible progress as well.. We just have to keep pushing forward man..
