Naw to both of you I lived inLA when Sagging was huge I grew up in the era when old folks hated sagging pants and the truth is it came from poverty and carried over into a fashion. Growing up in my era and poor meant you got Hand me Downs from your older cousins or siblings they would be big and fall off your ass if you did not have a belt. Rich Folks and white people tended to have the fitted or tight clothing in those days, those that made money would tend to buy fitted not tight clothes in the hood.

Most Gang bangers in the mid to late 80's through the mid 90's started banging because we did not have shit and came from poor households given how innovative and forward thinking we were the Baggy clothes also carried a double use. With the baggy shit you could more easily conceal things so the benefits of the clothes came to mean that they were adopted by the Thug Gang Culture as a standard instead of just being the gear that was thrust on us due to our situations.

The carry over to prison was from the same gang culture and the fact gear in prison is generalized to small medium large or extra large. You get belts that do not hold as they continue to slide if the prison if offers belts as some do not. The homo shit is bullshit and never been true, there is a bunch of tother shit that fags do to advertise themselves when locked up but that is a whole different thread discussion...
