In reality the hip hop culture took the biggest L. think about it.

Ghostwriting is at the core of hip hop.

I get that..but Drake and Meek were considered top 5 of the new generation and seen as leaders of the new school. Now one is considered the leader of Ls and the other is being seen as a pop artist with ghost written songs...WE ALL LOST as a culture

It's shit like this that makes people say Meek took the bigger L overall. "I don't fight niggas" when it comes to Game.

"I'm done talking about Drake" in interviews..."Niggas mad because I got Nicki"...now it's "I'll fight Drake and Nicki can be the ring girl"...this nigga brings these jokes on himself

Yeah that shit looks lame as fuck

Drake is setup for longevity..and his appeal is wide enough that his average listener won't give a damn about ghostwriting....plus he has an acting background, so his second career is already there. Meek was in that street rapper category, where egos are fragile as glass and u sposed to be so 'hood' that u take no Ls, never been broke, never experience heartache and fuck a million bitches that belong to somebody else...

Man hell naw. Niggas woulda ran you outta hip hop in the 80s and 90s if they even got a hint of somebody else pennin your rhymes.

So the fact that for decades now rappers have been open about talking about writing raps for other rappers, yet nobody has been ran out the game for it means nothing to you?

Who?? Who are these rappers that have talked about ghostwriting for a top tier artist for years?

So you've never heard a rapper say they've written for other rappers before? Niggas have talked about ghost writing forever in rap. They don't say the name because it defeats the point of being a ghostwriter but you're playing dumb if you've never heard a rapper say they've penned something for another artist

So..........no examples?

Most recent example I've seen is Jadakiss saying he wrote for other rappers but he didn't really like doing it because it was hard for him to pretend to be someone else when writing...it's not hard to find rappers saying they've written for other rappers. Now name some rappers who've been ran out the game?

So......he didn't say who he ghostwriter for, just that he did it and he wasn't comfortable with it?

So......because he left it open with a vague 'they' how could 'they' be ran out the game if we don't know who 'they' are?

Ghostwriting will always be frowned upon in real hip hop circles.

Drake's legacy was headed for greatness being viewed as one of the top lyricist in the game being compared to the likes of Jay on the mic and ppl saying could end up being one of the greatest (no revisionist history he was being talked about as possibly going down as one of the greats on the mic if he kept up)

GTFOH only people saying that were YMCMB fans.

Nobody with a credible, unbiased opinion said that.

I agree but in today's society

Most popular = indicative of truth

Word to Donald Trumps supporters

Meek lost net fame & drizzy lost his hip hop card after twitter fingers Quentin Miller....but they r both richer then anybody n here so they both win the end!

Looking at things objectively:

Meek's selling point was that he is a street nigga. There was a lot of emphasis put on his image. Now to me, logically, being a street rapper in the mid-late 00s and 10s is basically putting a ceiling on your potential. Street niggas ain't doing Wayne or DMX numbers anymore.

Drake was being pushed as a top MC. His style and lyricism was supposed to overshadow him being perceived as "soft." it turned out to be fraudulent but the bulk of his fan base aren't hip-hop purists. Its radio friendly pop fans.

Post-beef only one thing mattered: Drake's fanbase didn't care about ghostwriters while Meeks fans DID care about Meek's image.

Drake's audience just dropped calling him a GOAT MC but the pop audience still rocks with him because he makes the type of music they like. Drake only lost the purists who were only a small portion of his audience anyway.

I don't know any meek fans that cared at all about what Drake was talking about to be honest they all still meek fans

Funny how y'all talking Drake never cared about being the top MC or all that talk when the last time we've heard him in sneak dissin he was just calling himself the GOAT... Y'all gotta cut it out acting like Drake never wanted to or cared to be in the great MC class

You're proving my point actually. Name one rapper, other than Drake, who's been "outed" for having a ghostwriter? Rappers talk about ghostwriting for years yet have never revealed who they've written for...hence it being called a ghostwriter. It's been around since the inception of hip-hop and other rappers have always talked about.
