Well everyone saying it sounds like a mixtape has convinced me to treat it as one.

Besides I bought Kendricks cd so my monthly disc budget is spent.

Ill listen to this tomorrow and come back here to shit or spit on it.

this is 14 track album yet people only name the same 5 songs they like on the album. what a happened to the other 9 songs. oh yeah thats right they are forgotten about. which says alot about this album. it wont bang no more than 3 months.

iight.....

i said to myself if i didn't like this i wouldn't come in here to bash meek because, one, i met him and he's a cool dude, and two i try so hard to rep philly when it comes to hip hop because i think philly is overlooked in rap.

with all that said i had to as honest as i could and just say i thought this album is trash. tough to say that, and maybe my opinion of rap has changed since i heard kendrick's album, but i just do not like this album.

as many of the posters in here have already said, it sounds too much like a rick ross album, production, and overall flow of the album is bad. and the third and worst thing about this album is meek raps aboutthe same shit every track he is on. i understand thats the life meek has lived and all (and i know the streets of philly is rough), but he really has to mix in other raps to his style. i mean you don't even get a soft for the bitches type joint on here.

i think that is a big problem with all philly rappers, they all rap about the same shit all the time, it's cool to rap about the street but you ain't never going to make it main stream doing just that.

overall their's only 3 tracks on here i like, Maybach Curtains, Tony Story part 2, and Traumatized.

never thought id see the day niggaz was mad a rap album aint have enough songs for females....this new generation boi!

newsflash ... them "mixtapes" meek was dropping .... WERE STREET ALBUMS DISGUISED AS MIXTAPES ;) especially the flamers series ... them shits were street albums ...... so wasnt expecting Meek to steer to far from that but to give us pretty much the same product but @ an high caliber ... quality wise ..... side note havent heard any of the joints off the album yet outside YOUNG N GETTING IT ... trying to wait for the official to drop !!

lol yeah i was kind of surprised by that comment myself ... def a reach but then again ... weve been so conditioned to the female track ... i guess its gotten to the point theres a certain amount of folks that actually look for it ...... but honestly i dont think theres been a real authentic female track in rap since DMXs - HOWs IT Going Down .......

you did not get my post at all bruh, reread it and edit your post... smh

my point was meek spits about the same thing over and over and over. it's always " hood music" all the time, it gets boring after a while. fuck, DMX spit about other shit now and again back in the day. it wasn't always MY DAWGS!!! music. now do you get what i am saying?

The rest is just wack.

You can't call it an instant classic if it didn't go above & beyond expectations, because I don't think anybody expected a classic.

"above & beyond expectations" would've been Meek taking huge risks and basically dumping a good formula that's gotten him outta the Philly DVD scene

nah homie, WACK is a STRONG fuckin word. THROW THAT was wack. Thoughts of a Predicate Felon was wack. WACK is when absolutely nothing is working or clicking right.

This fits my definition of "classic". I define classic as "great but well below a masterpiece". Errybody call Philadelphia Freeway a classic but dat shyt was average w/ WASTED beats to me. I'll take Dreams n Nightmares ova dat anyday. This album may be in the "MMG Template" too much, but it does a BETTER job of THAT than say, Rozay album.

So I'm sayin, look, I'd love to hear Meek black out ova some Primo or ALC beats as much as the next head, but if he's gon spit over Jahlil & Boi beatz, PLEASE spit over shit like Rich & Famous and Traumatized. If he gon have dat cliche track w/ Ross, PLEASE let Ross namedrop Miley Cyrus AND Bieber in the hook. Niggas call "Ghetto Fabolous" a classic...........let me put it this way, if Meek career crash from here on in, 7 years from now he'll be talmbout how "Dreams & Nightmare 2" is coming soon........

I agree with you. If he exceeded the expectations, by giving people something else, other than a full album that sounds dead on DC2, then you would see a lot more people in here sayin the same shit they're sayin about Lamar's album. "Classic", "Album of the Year", "Great Debut"... But we all are not because.. It is the same stuff he's been giving us for the past 2+ years.

That's fine with me tho! I knew I'd get a good handful of tracks that I can bump everyday, and another handful that I'll dump.

6-7/10 to me.

This album is better than Ross' album easily. As for Kendrick, I ain't fuckin with that album either. Cool album, but I won't be bumping it. Can't get passed his voice/flow for an entire album. Boredom

6 outta 10 rating for an debut album is not acceptable. kendricks was 9/9.5 in most knowledgeable rap opinions.

My thing is, why does EVERYTHING have to be a classic though? I'm cool with an album that will give me a bunch of songs I'll bump all the time, compared to an album that is really good, but is more "mood" music.

I expected a 6/10 album from him, and that's what I got.

YOU did, general hip hop opinions was this album was an highly anticipated album from a young up and coming artist. the thing is tho their was no artistic material in this album. it was a mixtape, hood raps.

Meek Mill himself have been hyping this album to be "classic". Go through his interviews- he expects this album to put him on a legendary tier. This album being underwhelming may have been expected by you, But that's not what meek was thinking by making such bold claims

it seems to me the biggest knock against this album is.....it leaked right after Kendrick's LP.

my opinion on this has settled on like a 8 something. antarticp was right, Meek already got a "album formula" down, and this was an extension of that. He rushed it out sooner than he needed to (he coulda coasted off Amen into '13), and didn't spend a bunch of money on samples or superproducers. This is as good a album he ever gon get outta that formula imho.
