Plus let's not act like Meek ain't do 250 thousand his first week.... Meek was that nigga at a time in this past year

Meek wasn't that nigga the 2 highlights from the album was the song where diddy was talking about deep shit and the RICO song which included drake. He sold well and had a temporary buzz but then the album was quickly forgotten. Even though i think TPAB was overrated on and off the IC it was a superior album to Meeks. It also had a message that went hand in hand with the struggles in the real world for black folk.

You don't do the numbers he did in 2015 off just a temporary buzz..... Meek was one of the most popular niggas in rap at that time

The album had strong first week sales but after the beef nobody was talking about his album they were talking about his twitter fingers. Even the song with nikki didn't go gold. The Rico song with drake also didn't go gold. How do you have a top album and don't have a gold selling single or an album that wasn't talked about past the first month or so?

His buzz had everything to do with his social media crying and his shots at drake exposing a ghost writer. TPAB was talked about all year. The Game's album exceeded expectations and was talked about later in the summer. Cole and drake had music that was on the radio and buzzing that was talked about. Big Seans singles from Dark sky paradise were hits play no games, idfwu and blessings. But meek ain't have hits in 2015.

Bruh niggas was waiting on Meek to drop when he got locked up.... y'all don't be remembering nothing.... again you not going 250 first week off a lil buzz in 2015.... Meek was that nigga you might need to go back in time and see how everybody was rolling with Meek b4 the whole Drake shit....it's basically the reverse thing of what happened to Ja rule he was one of the hottest rappers out that's not just a lil buzz

215K actual copies and 246K with streaming now just under 400,000 maybe it is gold with streams idk. Regardless it came it exceeded expectations first week but was quickly forgotten. Again 0 smash hit singles. Couldn't even go gold with nikki and drake helping him on 2 of the singles. The rest of the summer was about his twitter fingers nobody was playing the album anywhere. If you're reading this, Futures Mixtapes, TPAB, Dark Sky Paradise and Forest Hills Drive 2014 easily eclipsed meeks album as far as what niggas was bumping in the whip or hearing at the club/concert hype music before the main act. All you are pointing at is first week sales and the lead up. But after all that the shit faded.

Nigga damn near every album fades quickly these day and ages you only counting after I'm counting everything....... I never said Meek stayed that nigga I said there was a time when he was that nigga which he was

This isn't every album this is top rap album. FHD ran from december well into august with buzz and popularity. TPAB had the hype and then ran through the entire summer. Drakes mixtape last year was playing everywhere and people consumed it from the winter through fall. So what was your hooting and hollering about in this thread if you can't even prove meeks album ain't fade quick like an average album?

FHD wasn't even in the conversation so wtf that album gotta do with anything..... Drake albums weren't even really albums they was mixtapes and they both ate at each other buzz and as bad as niggas might not wanna admit it Compton in the real world came and went so the only album that really had a case was TPAB...... So maybe if you get over the whole "it had no gold single" shit you'd get it better

My point was there were albums unlike meeks that had long standing runs of people playing it in the same year. And yeah TPAB was a better overall album which should by default take the award over tweet mill.

Another slap in the face to Hip-Hop culture. It happened during the Grammy's with Taylor Swift winning over Kendrick ... and they did it again by giving Meek Mill this award.

I'm not a Drake fan, but I somewhat would have understood if he won (Although Kendrick or Dre deserved it) ... But Meek ???? ... LOL! ... Dude to an L to a singer ... LMAO!

At this critical point the stakeholders are clearly fighting for the life of their investment/product, it´s as simple as that, they trying to save a shinking ship and doing some damage control for the horse that they got in the race. No way this beats Kendrick´s effort in any way you slice it.

Sorry but not everyone is into pseudo-intellectual pseudo-jazz hipster rap

Just because you say its ´pseudo´ doesn´t make it so... ´Alright´ was one of, if not the biggest song last year, it was also the anthem for social activists, you can play blind all you want, but alot of ppl can see past the bs!

And apparently Kendrick didn't even write that lol

Good points international.

Definition of pseudo: not genuine; sham

So Kendrick's music is fake, but dudes talking about being the Tony Montana of their block (some shit they don't own), killing 101 black men and being the biggest pimp/player is real.

But someone being honest about their lifestyle and talking about black issues is fake.

You're right people want to hear some "Real Hip-Hop" and people are getting tired of the wack studio gangsters they're always trying to push down everyone's throats !!!

The IC is the only place I've heard the term "pseudo" anything and it's always exclusively used on artists like Kendrick, Lupe and Kanye. 3 artists who embody true artistry yet they get called this term but nobody ever calls out these "gangsta" "druggy" rappers for any of the messages they put behind their work.

The hate for Meek is disgusting

This thread is the perfect reason why you can't be successful around niggas.

How so if i had a son i would want him to be the opposite of meek

1. Don't act like a hoe on social media

2. Don't ever be on probation and if you do be smart don't get in more shit over dumb things

3. Don't use the word dweeb ever

On top of that he his album was average and forgetable. I liked meek during the DC1 and DC2 era and there was hope he was going to be something great in the game. His first 2 albums are steps back from his peak that was DC2. He has had a few moments of greatness but it is juts for a song or 2 then hes back to the bullshit.

Aight........

DWMTM is a better album than it's competition. Deal with it

How so? TPAB was easily better and had a more cohesive message. Provide proof to your claims.

So folks tryin to act like Meek didn't have a buzz prior to this drake beef? Even In jail, Meek's name constantly popped up on hiphop sites and blogs. He didn't push 200+K first week with the number one album 2 weeks in a row on accident.

Swear I can see how revisionist history works on things that happened years ago but damn niggas can't even remember shit from a year ago???? Meek had everybody waiting on him to drop now niggas acting like he was just a nigga with a lil buzz gtfoh lol

He had a buzz but he also hurt it with his social media shit. Every other week damn near he was quitting social media and not arguing with people...only to pop up again arguing and whining on social media
