yea snoop was that dude for real it was deep cover then the chronic then his solo. dam shame he down to just spelling his name now. i think it was that murder trial that really changed his music. really stepped away from the gangsta shit and more of the pimp/funny guy shit. he still drops a good track from time to time but his overall albums have died.
i can say for me jay z unplugged got him back on my radar. i really wasn't feeling volume 1 and 2 plus he stole a go go song from some DC cats and did them dirty. he was just out of my ears for a 2nd. Then teh unplugged cd got me back on board then the blueprint gave him a 2nd run for me

I can promise you that most of you haven't even heard "Tha Doggfather" in it's entirity. "Tha Doggfather" was a very dope album, problem was that people expected another "Doggystyle". Really listen to that album and tell me it ain't dope. It's def one of Snoop's best album, but people are so quick to write it off just because it didn't have Dre and because it wasn't "Doggystyle".
However i'd say that Snoop's return came in 1999-2000. The album that brought him back was "No Limit Top Dogg". By this time Snoop had succesful street singles like ("Bitch Please", "Down 4 My Niggaz" etc.) and overall a very dope album. His return with Dre elevated him even further again, especially since he was on some of the biggest songs on that album.
After that "Tha Last Meal" solidfied his status in the limelight again, this of course together with him being on one of the biggest hip-hop tours of all time..."The Up In Smoke Tour".
