yea snoop was that dude for real it was deep cover then the chronic then his solo. dam shame he down to just spelling his name now. i think it was that murder trial that really changed his music. really stepped away from the gangsta shit and more of the pimp/funny guy shit. he still drops a good track from time to time but his overall albums have died.

i can say for me jay z unplugged got him back on my radar. i really wasn't feeling volume 1 and 2 plus he stole a go go song from some DC cats and did them dirty. he was just out of my ears for a 2nd. Then teh unplugged cd got me back on board then the blueprint gave him a 2nd run for me

i thought vol 1 was a really good album, vol 2 was like an album filled with singles. vol 3 and the dynasy were when jay was in a drought.

Wasnt a long come back but Too Short, and maybe E-40 during that whole Hyphy phase.

Fat Joe after Big Pun dropped, although he was never that big before that to begin with.

Dr.Dre drop that weak ass compilation after he left Deathrow, then discovered Eminem and drop 2001.

I think 50 is done, 50 came into the game on some gimmick (he got shot 9 times), not on some artistic shit. Once the newness and shock value wore off, people lost interest, he was never a great mc to begin with.

As for your question, maybe Snoop again, Dr. Dre is suppose to be producing his next album. As a producer maybe Mannie Fresh, maybe Mystikal, etc.

the reason i say 50 is because he has the talent (although it is very underused) to make a run, he just needs to take a new approach.

I can promise you that most of you haven't even heard "Tha Doggfather" in it's entirity. "Tha Doggfather" was a very dope album, problem was that people expected another "Doggystyle". Really listen to that album and tell me it ain't dope. It's def one of Snoop's best album, but people are so quick to write it off just because it didn't have Dre and because it wasn't "Doggystyle".

However i'd say that Snoop's return came in 1999-2000. The album that brought him back was "No Limit Top Dogg". By this time Snoop had succesful street singles like ("Bitch Please", "Down 4 My Niggaz" etc.) and overall a very dope album. His return with Dre elevated him even further again, especially since he was on some of the biggest songs on that album.

After that "Tha Last Meal" solidfied his status in the limelight again, this of course together with him being on one of the biggest hip-hop tours of all time..."The Up In Smoke Tour".

Most of those people didn't fall off. Like Snoop has always sold as far as I can remember. Same with Em. Common never fell off because he was
never on
in the first place.

I don't think he's talking about sales. I think he's talking about falling off to the public eye. Just overall.

Like when Snoop joined No Limit people almost gave up on him and his first album on the label was garbage and people thought he just rode the bandwagon and so on. Just an example of what i think t/s is talking about.

He should be talking about sales since that is what most use for that gage. Personal opinion is impossible to argue because its subjective. Sales are the only real neutral benchmark.

But he's talking about in general. I mean wasn't it obvious that people stopped feeling Ja Rule after maybe 2004? Wasn't it obvious that people thought Snoop had lost it in 1998? The list goes on.

It's about the general perception.
