Lets be real: the 2000s rappers are starting to die out just like the 90s rappers before them.

The problem is that the new rappers don't like to take risk outside of the norm or like to do something else. They rap about money and bitches and just stay there for as long as they can. If you think that Big Sean or Wiz Khalifa can stay relevant for over 3-4 albums, you gotta be fooling yourself. No comedy rap, very little introspective rap, and virtually no socially conscious rap makes much of the 2010s Hip Hop very stale and predictable.

The 00s rappers like Luda, TI, Jeezy, etc. are hanging on by a thread.

you preaching tho every nigga talking about how they doin something different but its the same conftorable safe music that got them discovered/buzz.

N that shit will make him to another Nelly or Ja Rule.

shit some of these niggas would pray to have nelly or ja rule hits/album numbers/fame lol

lmfao at naming Nas tho cmon

Damn near 20 years in the game and he's still ripping it and putting up decent numbers. Life is good will be gold by next year.

What other artist in his class can say that?

50 cent and tip could put up the same numbers he put up but he has them as them as the rappers that are dying out. then he has nas in the same list as jay wayne and ye. he not even close to selling like them but i do agree tho he still doing his thing

Tip I'll give you but the juries still out on 50. And it's not just about sales. People have fell off musically as well.

Lol at you niggas counting out 50, Tip, and the rest of these vets. They might be diminishing returns, but they still doing respectable numbers in this climate.

Its not about counting them out its about being honest with your self, niggas aint checked for 50 musically since Curtis and that's real shit. Before I self Destruct Movie >>>>>>> Album. On the other hand TI has proved his staying power beyond sales by dropping a really dope album.

I can't deny that ever since the whites flocked to Kanye in 07 Fif has had a decline mainstream wise, but to say 50 can't deliver an album beyond sales is something I strongly disagree with.

Fuck mainstream appeal, lets focus on quality projects. 50's music has been on a decline ever since GRODT. Can he deliver another great album? I surely can not tell the future but I can look back @ history and history shows that artist do not drop multiple turds consecutively and then drop a classic after said turds.

Lol Dropping turds nigga please, 50 invested so much into his music and his imprint(GRODTOST, G Unit Radio Series, His own Artists). There's countless records he's written that are QUALITY. He drops The Massacre which was actually a dope album(if he put Hate it or Love it on it oh lawd), Curtis had some cuts overall was a setback, and BISD was alright. You tellin me an artist of his caliber can't make a return? What was Tip doing the last few years building his own artists or keeping himself afloat?

You said it your self Curtis was a turd and BSID was alright (Translation) turd, throw some mixtape turds in there and now your streaking, no pun. I dont care about what they been going through. I am a fan of music there executive and business ventures or who they wrote music for does not play a factor into weather their music is jamming to me. Can I bother you to drop a few of those countless QUALITY records he has written post 2009.

After 09, 50 pretty much fell back and was dropping records here and there to appease his fanbase, here's some off the top of my head.

the new single he had which i thought was a great direction for the album

I think you guys are simple minded as usual. This is just how the game goes. I have said it several times Whitney was not hot when she died, neither was Michael, and neither is Prince now and he is still living. This has nothing to do with certain people becoming stale or not being able to transcend eras. Usher is the biggest act of this generation in R&B and he admits to building a lot of his stuff off of MJ and James Brown.

This is just the music business you are seeing the truth which is things do not change every 10 years or so. The music business tries to push people out of the game every so often. The fact is they have to push people out of the game because they are going to turn around and sell you re-packaged bullshit with another name and face.

Nas pretty much did that, coming back with Stillmatic & God's Son after I Am & Nastradamus... and then he did it AGAIN dropping Nigger/Life Is Good after Street's Disciple & Hip Hop Is Dead. But I agree, Nas is just the exception that proves the rule.

Most of Nas career has been lackluster. Only thing that makes him a legend is New York has him in the worthless seat of nigga that we say is better than you.

Nas was dropping dope features between 99 and Stillmatic, the game just changed so much in that time that it seem like son was gone for years. Also original "I AM" was bootleg like crazy and people and the hood blasted that shit.

Smh its not Jus in hip hop... Think Brittney spears, Christina augilera, nsync, Backstreet boys ect was goin diamond n a year or damn near in the 2000's and now they numbers aint on da level of lady Ga Ga or Taylor swift or Justin bieber... Most "greats" n they craft have a life span of a few years anyway n popularity... U would be stupid 2 think drake or Ross or Nicki menaj is gonna be as popular n 10 years... Shyt Taylor swift or Justin bieber wont be dat popular n 10 years...

Some solid records, I hope he can deliver a solid project contrary to what you may believe my criticism is from a former fans perspective.

niggas know Nas aint relevant in the mainstream.

when the last time you heard dude on the radio or saw his video on tv?

I have seen Nasty, Daughters, The Don & Cherry Wine all on MTV in the mornings

at least i am comfortable about the future of hip hop with some of the cats that are out now, compared to say 2006-2007 time period.
