theres no doubt players are more athletic today, but athleticism doesnt make you a good bball player. how good would danny granger be in the 80s when handcheckin was legal?

Kobe's definitely gonna take over the record books. Thing is, he's been around long enough to be a major personality in the league and hasn't done it. That's the only thing Jordan has on him. He created a brand that has yet to be duplicated and probably never will.

jordan didnt create that brand the league and nike did. he just capitalized on it.

Making threads like this is funny cause majority of these cats didn't even watch MJ play their brains are limited to the Allen Iverson era and after. I will bet that if you added a poll asking poster on here their age majority would be under 24. As a matter of fact, someone create a thread talking about old school NBA players/games lets see what posters know their shit.

No, Nike create the Air Jordan Shoe, Jordan created the Jumpman Brand, they just had the same symbol. Well now the are merged, but They were seperate.

Come on y'all actin like Jordan is untouchable or something, if Kobes wins another title with a finals MVP it is a debatable subject even though I still think Jordan is GOAT.

I like how you dudes are ignoring the fact that Kobe is 4 regular season mvps short, 5 finals mvp short, 5 championship being the main guy short, shitting on a whole hall of fame class short, never has been the clear cut best player in the league short, etc. Kobe is a poor mans MJ, Kobe is the 300C to MJ's Bentley.

The more athletic players argument always kills me. As has been already stated, more athletic does not = better player. Simply put, the game was played fundamentally better in Jordan's era than in the current one. If you think otherwise then I question your intelligence.

Defense looked weak when Jordan was playing. I cant stand ppl saying they play no defense now as if it looked that much better when jordan was playing, Shoot ppl are postering players even more now bc they r actually trying, when Jordan dunks it use to seem like players would always open up lanes for him. Jordan still is the GOAT but ppl need to stop acting like Kobe cant surpass him . And didnt the Bulls make it to the conf finals the year after jordan left....

This makes no sense everyone knows that you could REALLY get up on someone and handcheck back then, those Knicks teams back then made Stern want to change the rules. I believe if Jordan played now it would be possible that he could avg. 40 a game. I still think they should go back to the old rules.

long video, but a good watch for breaking down some of the differences between the defense in the 80s and today
