Nigga needs to go kick his little Elmer Fudd raps about nothing and just be happy that he's been temporarily declared the new rap savior now that people are over Lupe.

It aint no dam molly rap. So Ross' verse is rape rap? Gtfoh
Come again?
theBlackbeard;5855674 said:I think the point some of yall missing is that most of these so called rappers that reference molly in they raps, don't really partake in the drug. Only using it as a key phrase to sound relevant. That is pretty lame.
Muhannad X;5856553 said:Kendrick's right. Another thing I wanna know is when did it start being acceptable to be dopefiends? There have always been rappers that used drugs, but nowadays rappers are glorifying it. I think Weezy had a big part in making it cool to be a dopefiend, just like he made it cool to trick. After he said "it ain't trickin' if you got it" rappers ran with that theme.
While Kendrick is right I'm old enough to remember when nearly all NY rappers were using that Das Efx flow 20 years ago. In the early 90ties when dancehall was hot every rapper tried to incorporate some Jafaikan sh*t into their music. I remember when rappers used that term "keep it real" till it became corny around '94/ '95. Commercial a*s rappers was on that jiggy sh*t around '97. Everyone had a Sean Paul feature 10 years ago. Around '04/ '05 rappers and even r & b n*ggas collaborated with wack a*s reggaeton n*ggas.
My point is at the end of the day this is a business and rappers have always followed trends.

Naw, not death to the drug, death to the "trendiness" of it...I thought the same thing when I first saw the video, cause I know a lotta niggas in his own camp do molly...But he basically just sayin niggas need to stop hoppin on trends and runnin em into the ground...

Soooo...Bone Thugz, ODB, Devin, Cypress Hill, Snoop, Andre Nickatina, etc...Weren't all pushin the drug lifestyle prior to Wayne?...I'll admit he made that phrase more popular but he ain't make trickin cool...

Broddie;5856993 said:It's more than just the molly references that have watered down hip hop. It's the copy cat mentality. People who are in the hip hop industry today forgot that it's first and foremost about self expression. Too many clones. No real pioneers. It's like a long ass transition period that has yet to lead anywhere when it comes to mainstream rap music.

Yeah you had rappers that made songs here and there about getting high but notice you didn't mention mainstream rappers (in terms of dominating saleswise). You mainly mentioned niche rappers and local rappers. Nowadays mainstream rappers be talking about sniffing lines and popping molly's with no shame. Back in the day it wasn't cool to spit from a customer's/ fiend perspective but now the negative stigma is gone. I think Weezy played a big part in that sh*t, just like he made trickin' cool.
