To all of the people in here saying that financial empowerment is anything short of absolutely key in correcting the state of afro americans in this country please give me a SINGLE example of any sort of long-term positive changes that these "broke revolutionaries" have facilitated/influenced? Why are so many black people content with being hardcapped financially? Kanye was exactly right, as long as someone is signing your check, you're a slave. As long as you need to go to some bank for a loan to accomplish something(black people are also hardcapped on the size of business loans that we can recieve), you're a slave. Black people are all talk but when one of us tries to step up and do something, the crabs come right out of the woodwork.

Black people have been shut out of pretty much ALL distribution companies, and that's where the money is at in ANY industry. What Kanye is saying is that we need more black billionaires so that we can gain a GLOBAL VOICE because we don't have one. We have absolutely no influence on ANY global-scale decision has been made/is being made right now. Some of our more enlightened niggas feel some type of way about that. For all the talk of doing it by himself, show me one example of a black person that has successfully started a clothing line and worked it up to the gucci/givenchy/versace level? FUBU? Rockawear? Karl Kani? None of those brands even came close. How would the result be any different for Kanye? Especially since he's already proven that his previous fashion joint ventures have ALL BEEN SUCCESSFUL?

This shit is deeper than rap, it's deeper than clothes. It's about distribution. Kanye feels he has a calling in clothes and he feels like he kick the billionaire club's door in through that industry. More fucking power to him. He's in a position to at least attempt it, so why shouldn't he? He wasn't the first to try. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, P Diddy, Suge Knight, Marvin Gaye, Same Cook as well as many other black artists expressed interest in starting an all-black music distribution company in order to break into that billionaire club. How many of those people are alive today? How many of those people didn't have their names run through the mud in the media? I mean diddy has a body and almost went to jail for shooting a club up. Suge Knight is broke in and out of jail gettin knocked out by small niggas outside of clubs. Michael Jackson would actually be a billionaire if he were alive today, his estate clears over a billion a year and it's still gaining more and more profits. This shit is deeper than music

If extreme confidence in oneself is some kind of mental illness then I probably have that same shit that Kanye has. I think his problem is that he thinks faster than he talks(I have the same issue) so he comes off as intense when he's just trying to get a bunch of points across at once. I think he's frustrated because of how dense a lot of niggas seem to be. C tha god is a funny guy but after this interview I'm forced to question his intelligence because this nigga was letting gems go completely over his head

I gotta say that after reading this thread I'm a little frustrated too. A lot of you niggas really need to learn some critical thinking skills

I owe you 100 GOAT for this. Well stated, but nigguhs ain't gonna hear you bruh. People get so caught up in Ye's ranting that they aren't even listening to what he's actually saying or trying to accomplish. The fact that I see so many comments on so many different boards only focusing on his perceived lunacy is a testament to the widespread crab mentality and lack of understanding that continues to breed complacency and ignorance w/in our communities.

...and let the illuminati cock sucking begin.

I really don't understand how some of you guys think. Throughout all of modern history, the ONLY time that innovations created within black culture have reached a global scale has been when white corporations could co-opt and can make profits off of said innovations. Do you niggas think that's random? There have lots of black millionaires. How come NONE OF THEM have been able to break into ANY global distribution structures? Many have tried and failed to penetrate all kinds of distribution rings, but of course the same people own most of the shit on this planet INCLUDING those distribution companies

I don't understand how some of you don't understand how his business moves can be beneficial to the race as a whole. All he has to do is get his foot in the door, and that might pave the way for someone after him to go further. The thing is that YOU NEVER FUCKING KNOW SO WHY NOT TRY? What the fuck do we as a people have to show for ourselves right now? All he's doing is trying to get to the next level. The top level. I commend any black man trying to take over the world. Like my sig says, go for it

Like Kanye said, you niggas shitting on him now will be hugging his nuts in a decade

I was with you until you mentioned hugging of the nuts. Cock gobbling is at an all time high in this thread, smh.

@xxCivicxx Stop no-signing my posts and answer my question: What does Kanye getting distributed by a major fashion house have to do with Black Financial Independence?

Sorry nigga I'm not gonna hold your hand through the entire learning process. That's why you're so confused about all the shit that I'm posting now. Apply that brain of yours and think. In your opinion, how would a black man kicking in the door of a multi-billion dollar global industry(primarily controlled by whites for much of recent history) contribute to afro americans gaining economic strength/independence? I can only post so many titangraphs before I have to give up on some of you niggas. If you actually want to understand then ACTUALLY MAKE AN ATTEMPT AT UNDERSTANDING

Yeah okay guy so basically you don't understand either so now you're being condescending to deflect...well played. He's not talking about building his own distribution he wants in on theirs..nothing INDEPENDENT about that. Good day sir.

Stop trying to bait me into educating you because I can see through it. Reread what I posted to see if you can learn anything this time around. If not then that's all on you. Idk what I'm deflecting when I asked you the exact question that you asked me. Then I answered that question in the exact same post

Why are you equating freedom to money? Money is not what makes us free in this World." - Charlamagne the God.

He sonned Kanye West pretty bad

No he didn't. Economic independence is a form of freedom, it's the closest thing to freedom that blacks can actually achieve these days. C the god showed exactly how small his mind was when he asked that question. We should be pushing all black people to try and become billionaires

I rarely agree with Kanye or C tha god for that matter. But this is bullshit. MONEY does equate to freedom. It's how the world works. The more money you have the more freedom you have. This is basic shit.

This interview make me want to even go more hard nh on my peers. Imma try to set yo alarm to wake you up but if you keep hitting the snooze button then imma let you sleep

Chris Rock in one of his stand-ups made a reference to the shit...

Dude said Shaq is rich

The man who signs Shaq check is wealthy...he went on about what having wealth can and will do for a family's generation....I forgot what stand-up it was...but it was on he did on HBO..

CthaGod suggested that YE should be a revolutionary like MLK. But Ye isn't built for that and he knows it. He acknowledges the civil rights struggle through his mother, but at the end of the day he himself knows he's not a civil rights revolutionary. He's an industry revolutionary. Even if Ye did go the MLK route, I'd loose all respect for him. Honestly we need revolutionaries on both ends to make this work. It's all good and well that we march and protest, and boycott. But what good is it when we more than likely HAVE to get our checks signed by the white man?

The thing about being independent, its a major risk....no matter who tries it…

So him rattling off the names of designers is his way of saying that the diaspora needs to focus on economic empowerment?

His quest to make the flyest Yeezy is really a quest to stop violence in Chicago?

We believe u. U have enough ppl.

Once again, people such as Michael Jackson made the EXACT same kind of speeches against music execs like Tommy Motola. Kanye's passion for black clothing distribution is very similar to MJ's passion for black music distribution(black musical business sense in general)

Michael Jackson tried to go it alone in several of his ventures, and almost went broke because of it.

C?!

Kanye basically said he's tried the independent route. It takes longer and the manufacturing companies u have to deal with, are already monopolized by a certain group of companies already.

He isn't necessarily begging the fashion industry to get in. He's bullying them, or in some of y'alls opinion, making an ass of himself .

Either way he's doing what he can to break through.

Y is he using this method? Because niggaz said he wasn't gonna make it as a rapper and they were proved wrong by his determination.

Ipso facto, he's gonna use that drive and reluctance to listen to what niggaz say "he can do", and continue to achieve his dreams.

Another reason I believe he's hounding these companies is because they use niggaz n e way.

But will not let one of us sit at the "table".

So he can struggle from the ground and possibly fail like sway.

Or he can continue his independent hustle AND get on these industry giants that own everything to put him on so he could possibly, kick in the door for niggaz. And primarily leave some form of a legacy, which he feels blacks in general, do not have.

I say possibly cause of bob Johnson.

As simple as I can put it, that's what I got from this interview.
