"Governor Cuomo has pledged not to allow this practice until it has been proven safe, and we're confident that he'll uphold his promise," said Claire Sandberg, the executive director of the New York-based group Frack Action. "Given all we know about the inherent dangers of fracking — compounded by the new revelations that this industry is in fact just a giant Ponzi scheme that may well bankrupt the state — we expect that Governor Cuomo will not move forward under current circumstances."

It's funny when I hear stories about students leaving school with tons of debt and then thy can't find a job. I will not say that the degrees that people get are bullshit, but what job do you expect to get with a history degree? The only thing you can do is teach history, or maybe work at a museum.

The college game is really messud up now. I majored in marketing and found a pretty decent job within 4 months of graduation. In the area I live in they are doing natural gas drilling. They are hiring a lot of people and on top of that they pay anywhere between 16-25 an hour entry level. I went through 4 years in college and these gas dudes don't have any schooling, but they are out here caking lmao. That shit fucks with a niggas emotions yo... They are working 60 hour weeks and bringing home between $3,000 - $4,500 bi weekly. i'm aboout to quit my position and work with them ,stack my paper, then head to law school.

im majoring in the same thing

did you find work that uses what you learned in your marketing classes?

I just graduated from college and now I am on my way to seminary. My employment comes from the one who created ALL THINGS. His benefits never run out. God has blessed me beyond belief because my hope is in Him. He provides all my needs. In these last days in which we live all those who say they have faith in Jesus Christ will be demanded to show it.

Because in reality the rough times aren't even here yet. Lord have mercy.

Sorry to say this, but this is why you HAVE to work somewhere while in college! Build that Resume up as much as you can. People during the years always asked me "Why am I working this job?" "How do you do it?", to me it's really because I had no choice! Other than the fact of getting Financial Aid for classes and SOMETIMES books, everything else came outta pocket. And I was also a commuter (worked in the city, so I had to get back home, plus it was more expensive living in dorms). I went from Cashier, to Sales Associate, to Bank Teller, to System Monitor while I was doing full time school.(System Monitor is full time as well).

I got my degree in Computer Science and I'm currently still a System Monitor, but looking for a job and to be honest, it is frustrating but to me that means constantly reading about my field for news, trends, and career opportunities. And also Networking with my classmates as well, asking for Informational Interviews (where you're asking people in the particular field pretty much how they got the job and how can "I" get hired). Anything you can to get started, you have to do it instead of saying there are "no jobs"! NEVER sleep on internships, you never know how much of an impact that can make on your experience and resume.

Another thing too because I've done it since high school, never sleep on getting those lower end jobs either! You gonna stay unemployed or you gonna use this job as a stepping stone for saving up and STILL LOOKING for other opportunities! I hear many article editors and people in the workforce say all the time, "Looking for a job is just like a full time job" so you have to always be looking for opportunitites. I just graduated this May, and I was at first overwhelmed by the offers that I was getting emailed to me! My thing was however I wasn't ready to move outta my situation right then and there, there were offers coming in from other states. I'll even admit that there were offers that I could've took but I passed on them because I wanted something closer to home. But I realized that you have to talk to the recuiters (email or call) about your situation and see if they're willing to work with you, more importantly for paid internships.

So to all having problems, keep grinding and researching and don't give up on opportunities that can set you up for the future!

This is why I am in the IT field.Maryland is like second only to California for job opportunities. Also the IT field is ever growing and is more versatile than most career fields. There are no shortage of openings for the Government, small companies and companies like Walmart and AT&T.people have to do the proper research for their career field.WTF is public policy?

You are not lying, Baltimore is actually top 10 for job opportunities from what I've been reading!!

Bruh, nobody was helping me, like I said I had no choice!!

When you're focused, and constantly looking, opportunities will come!!
I just got an offer for PHP Developer in NY this morning!

I tell muthafuckas all day, I'm hungry for experience!! Money is important, but over experience, money should be second unless you want to stay comfortable where you at!

I try telling these high school/undergrad dudes this shit all the time. I've had an unpaid internship before. Shit sucked but it helped me get a major paying gig down the line.

Experience always trumps short term financial gains

not really because i'm a salesperson for the company I work for. I originally applied for a marketing coordinator position, but they wanted a person with more knowledge of the products, services and the industry.

Marketing is very broad and there are many different aspects to marketing. there's sales, product management, promotions, advertising, etc. I eventually wanna move into the product management side. One of my older bosses that I worked for told me to do a marketing research plan on a new product that he thinks my copmany should look into. I actually referred to a marketing research plan i did in class and my book that I wasn't able to sell back for some ideas on how to get started.

Intern and work in college. I use a functional resume so I am able to show prospective employers what I actually did while I was in school. For example I worked with a local non-profit on developing stratigies to run their organization more efficiently. The non-profit attended our final presentation and they liked it soo much that they invited us to present it in front of the board of directors.I didn't intern, so I have to make up for that. Also read the book what we should by. this will help you learn how to appeal to your consumers with whatever you are selling them.

Yeah! lmao the home of the little league world series... I don't plan to be here that much longer. trying to stack some paper and move down south. That's why I really thought about working for one of the oil companies

i agree that school isn't the only solution, some people feel like high school is enough and don't want to study any further because they don't have a interest in higher education or just go to a vocational school and learn a trade. i took a hiatus from school and TRIED to find a job for a few years only to get nowhere. now that i'm in a different state i'm enrolling in school again. with my talents and interests i know i can find work or run/operate my own business so i don't see myself looking like some of these busters trying to find work with a degree. not everybody can be kanye west and drop out though.:D

thanx for the wellwishes, i definitely need to hear/read them because it's been tough for me and i was grinding like a muthafucka. the problem was my location and the people i was trying to network with, they wern't very helpful or motivated enough to do anything to help me and i can't do EVERYTHING by myself you know, nobody can. we all need some help sometimes, there is no such thing as a "self-made man" in my opinion, somewhere down the line somebody saw some potential in you and believed in your enough to take a gamble and give you a chance.
