They just rebuilt one of the McDonald's in one of the busiest and tourist packed areas in my city. I drove past it from work the other day; nothing but self ordering kiosk machines inside. They're still not finished with it though.

A robot take over of the labor force involves too many ifs from what I see to predict accurately right now.
If a significant number of people are unable to work cause of robots seems the economy would take a hit cause people can't spend money to buy the goods robots make. How would that work out? Maybe a reduce cost in living across the board?
Then there's the human element of how the public will accept it. If folks are crying about mexicans taking the jobs they ain't gonna like it when robots do it either. This could back fire on businesses implementing robots.
I doubt many businesses smaller than corporations can even afford such robotics for it to threaten their human labor. Not in this lifetime at the least. A kiosk at McDs ain't shit, but a CNC or a Shear Cutter is big shit. That half a million shit that can break putting production two months behind. Ain't too many small businesses can take that kinda loss. So how they gonna adapt to that?
I think mechanical, computer, engineer type trades will keep becoming more popular. Fabrication as well. Schools, city officials, and educational programs often network together with surrounding job demands. The hoops to go through for those jobs may increase, they have been over the years already. But the minimum wage worker might have even greater access to getting that education.
Unless the government's end game is to reshape society into some futuristic dystopia like we see in sci-fi movies, I doubt it's going to be as bad as people claim. The country should adjust, but... I've been wrong about America before.
