That would require a lot of work/ trial and error that many people probably aren't willing to go through when they can just pay someone else to make something they like. If you've ever taken business courses or worked certain jobs...there comes a time when have to make a "Make or Buy" decision...is it more beneficial to you to Produce or have that job Outsourced? In the long run an artist could probably make more money if they become good or excellent at both, but is the time spent building that craft worth it? Most people won't be good at both...and in this culture most people will go with the quick money option (rapping) b/c it takes less effort (you can say anything as long as people like your sound...pay the producer...even though the beat carries the song you can make a lot of cake performing it, etc.) than actually making good beats. People don't care about being a multi-talented artist more than they care about making a quick buck...and the money from rapping is probably "good enough" for those who don't want to put in the extra effort.

I personally think doing both is definitely a good look though.

What I am sayin . Is that these beats and music where made with beat machines and sampled sounds. Its not like you can say " Derrick Hodge was on bass " or " Chris " Daddy" Dave was on drums ". Hip Hop as a whole doesnt have alot of instrumentation and musicianship.

Yes keyboard player are instrumentalist . I am talking about players that can actually play . Meaning that can play that sampled melody on a piano. They dont have to read music ( some great musicians thru time can play by ear ). But knowing how to play an instrument well and thoroughly is an advantage . And there are not alot of Hip Hop producers that are great musicians . Only a hand full

I agree making beats is very difficult . But learning how to play those beats with instruments is 10 times as hard . If the music ability of Hip Hop producer as a whole was on that level IMO the genre MUSICALLY would be even greater than it is
