something that was brought to my attention that i thought was pretty cool

it may have been mentioned already but i didnt see/remember it

in the novel pennywise returns every 27 years to terrorize the town

the miniseries aired in 1990

i think they are banking on the 80s nostalgia and even moved the timeline of the losers club as kids from the late 50s to the 80s to draw the attraction of the majority of the stephen king audience that grew up with his books and were 80s kids themselves -- it allows the story to move into the present by letting the adult versions of those kids be in the ‘now’ with the cycle being 27 years and putting it pretty much current day — though it looks like those kids are early to mid 80s and not late 80s/90s so it doesnt completely line up but still pretty close

but i do like the style/tone that theyre setting

the trailer hints at there being a solid treatment of the town as a character

a place where a sense of community never really developed because everyones survival strategy is to just watch out for themselves and its been that way for so long that its become the local culture — the image of the family in the car driving past and pretending not to see henrys bloody assault on ben probably sold the ticket for me

thats an essential component of the book thats been missing from the marketing up until now

im psyched that they appear to have nailed it

i will be in the theater opening night for this (i wouldve regardless lol)

his final form is

A DAMN DISAPPOINTMENT

seriously i think part two will have done a good deed if they actually attempt to top pennywise the clown with something that has nothing to do with the book
