and mnightwackass fuck has literally only made 3 good movies out of his 10 who keeps funding this nigga money

anybody else went to see the woods' do yall remember that major fucking letdown i do that shit still burns in my soul i went to see that piece of shit movie

A black movie ... Not about Negros in servitude or some sort of disfunctional ghetto buffoonery?? Annnnnnd the NIGGAS are saving the day in heroic fashion?? While promoting a healthy black family structure???

Shit I'm surprised they even let this shit get made...

I'm feeling that article eventhough I haven't seen the movie yet. Hollywood is built on 'nepotism'. Why the sudden outrage. Why did actors like Stephen Baldwin got roles (lol). When was Ben Stiller ever funny (FOH)?

That article is on point, but I have to see that movie before I can comment any further...

so nepotism is a problem when black people do it.. shiiiiiiiiiit check ya locale...

People complain about nepotism when white people do it too, especially when the person benefitting from the nepotism doesn't seem to be worthy of what they are receiving.

Name a recent example...

Hey people the thread is about the overboard critism ...not how good the actual film is...everyone agreed its not that great

so if it's bad, doesn't it deserve all the criticism it gets?

on the flip side why should we as black people accept mediocrity and praise it just cuz black people are involved?

also, lately at least, critics have not been kind to any m. night shamaylan's (sp?) movies. so i think this is more about his crappy directing than it is will or jaden's bad acting

and on the flip flip side.. why do we attach a different level of critique to black films and see wacker cracker films.. " speaking" of those dozens of cheesy comedies" idk there are a few ways of lookin at it..

Why do I have to give a recent example. The point is white people have been criticized for it before. If you really think it's all about race and not the quality of the movie and how it was put together, then please tell me where were these articles in the three other movies Will has used his name to get Jayden put on.

When angelina jolie did a movie with jon voigt all you heard was finally father and daughter reunited. Ain't it grand? But when will and jayden make a movie together its nepotism? Man fuck deez kkkrackaz. Imma go support

I've heard it several times in the past few weeks.....give one example of critics going at a white person for it

Charlie Sheen and most of the Baldwin brothers have been criticized for that in the past. And it's not just the nepotism that's the issue. If that's the case you would have heard all those complaints surrounding the Karate Kid movie too since that was basically Will and Jada pushing a movie to get their son out there. This one is catching so much flack because the nepotism is so blatant. It's not a simple instance of Will having a movie and giving his son a key role. It's essentially a movie where Will is using his star power to push something that's constructed in a way solely to showcase his son. Even most of these white people don't go about thing like that. They try to ease their family members into the spotlight not shove them down everyone's throats.

With the sheens and Baldwin's its considered a family business not nepotism....the kardashians, Hilton's and miley Cyrus is the same shit no one complains....and its not being shoved down anyone throats...after earth is an after thought as

Far as summer films go...another example of overreaching criticism... reality shows with the same family members as spinoffs are being shoved down America's through though

I'm not really sure what you're talking about here. Hollywood isn't a family business. The Sheens and the Baldwins don't own that shit, and they all didn't get into it on their own merits. One got on and reached back and opened doors for the others. That's nepotism. Is it bad, not necessarily, but that's what it is.

And what do you mean After Earth is not being shoved down anyone's throats. For goodness sake, you couldn't even watch the NBA Playoffs without seeing it 100 times, and Will and Jayden have been hitting every talk show circuit known boosting that movie. If it's an after though, it's only because the movie sucks not because they didn't do their damnedest to build it up like a summer blockbuster.

I never said they owned Hollywood I said people considered acting as their family businesses... and promoting a film is what every actor does for their movie

Criticism yes...but all that it gets? That depends on what they are criticizing.

When you're criticizing a film it should just be about that

Never said anything about black people praising one another just because they're black and accepting mediocrity... I've said myself the movie is forgetful several times

What? How does that apply whatsoever? Angelina Jolie was already a name in Hollywood before that happened. And they said "finally father and daughter reunited" not because they were doing a movie together but because they were estranged and didn't really have a relationship with each other. So this has no bearing on the convo at hand.

Then your argument is nonexistent. Pointing out that the Sheens and Baldwins have made it the "family thing" to be an actor doesn't change the fact that there was some nepotism involved especially concerning getting some of the less talented members involved. And pointing out that all movies are promoted doesn't refute the fact that this movie was shoved down our throats.

You made a statement so I asked you to back it up wit facts...

Hollywood is built on nepotism but now all of a sudden it's a problem. I think there are some racial undertones in some of these reviews (not taking away from the fact that movie is prob. wack)...

I'll take ya'Il opinion on that movie being wack though. Still I wanna see the movie for myself to really form an opinion on the movie and if the criticism was just.

I don't have a problem with the nepotism...BUT...if I did it would be that Will Smith seems determined to make his son a movie star regardless of if he can actually act or not. Because from what I saw in After Earth and Karate Kid...he can't.

I gave you examples. Then you tried to put some artificial restrictions on what answers were allowed. I'm not saying that there were no racist angles with any of the criticism. There are always going to be some bigoted responses out there. I'm saying that the vast amount of criticism being lobbied towards this movie has more to do with it's underwhelming quality than nepotism. And what criticism there is being lobbied at the nepotism has more to do with how blatant it is in this case than the fact that it's done.

Once again, the Smith family has being pushing the younger members on us for years now and there was no criticism. There are a number of other blacks who have benefited from the work their family members have put in without major criticism. So race is clearly not the primary reason this movie is being shitted on.
