Andre3000 solo project think black though is top 5… don't like real music battles ya jus used 2 the same shit PAC vs big nas vs jay… as soon as they see a artist getin compare or debate who's better that don't get talked about on tha reg ya ready loose ya mind goofys

I cosign this. The IC needs better balance. Old Heads, Hypebeasts, stans, and weirdos was the original IC. Now it's just turning to the member grapes forum where people just reminsince on Beanie Sigel being a dope rapper. Like how the fuck Black thought is top 5 right now? And this is coming from a huge The Roots fan.

This is a good topic to discuss. However, I wonder if an assumption is made though. It's not the Reason is a place for hip hop heads, not casual listeners. Most of the people who frequent the Reason have a more diverse taste than those on the main site. The casual listener can remain in the comments section while the serious listener can frequent the boards.

i like what i like.

i'm open to liking more shit.

if the shit is wack, i'm not going to listen to it because its "hot" right now. fuck that.

i'll live in my well curated bubble of dope shit.

Ay be in the create ya own label thread some how slaughter house beat out the likes of katy perry that right there lets me know this is a bubble ass world. But hell my homies think future is more popular than kendrick lol so ya theres bubbles everywhere from Internet to hoods, its all abt where u live and what u like

That's real, I can say the same bro, but niggas be quick to shit on others for liking new age shit and replaying Illmatic for the 80 thousand time. And I fucking hate the new age rap, but they are some legit dope ass songs out from New artist like Kodak Black, Young Roddy, Dave East , Vince Staples, Migos, etc .

Ill say this, I'ma realist. I give credit where it's due.

Do we do the IC more harm than good by ignoring these snot nosed young generation of rappers? Would paying equal attention these kids bring in more traffic and maybe... Just maybe... A female poster or 2?

Sure young artists like Joey Bada$$ & Chance the Rapper have their own following on the IC but what about these others guys?

Are we doing a dis-service not stickying albums like Kodak Black (shoutout to @FaggyAF ...no homo) who moved 47k opening week, but we sticky Raekwon who cant even move 3,000 units?

Or how about the week AbSoul dropped the same time as Post Malone. Post Malone didnt even have a thread on here but got a million streams while AbSoul was stickied and couldnt move 10k.

Are we getting old.... Well obviously we are. But are we out of touch? Is this effecting TheReason or are people (females in particular) just not fuckin with hiphop foruns in 2017? Should we start giving the new generation a place at the table or continue to dictate what TheReason is by way of mod preferences?

It's a young man's game. Us older heads can't dictate what the youth like because we don't. That's the main issue in notice. The folk who are partying and setting the cultural trends for their current generation like what they like.

I can only speak for myself. Older than most of y'all...

I bump a lot of "new" shit, WDNG Crshrs, Earthgang, Nick Grant, Future, Money Makin Nique, Joey Bada$$/Pro Era, Grieselda Records, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, Casey Veggies, Childish Gambino, Boogie (Not A Boogie), BADBADNOTGOOD, Smoke DZA and a whole bunch of other shit - old/new, underground/mainstream...

I won't be bumping Migos, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Lil Boat, Ear Drummer backwards. Their music is not up to my standards from what I have heard of them...

And I'm hip to these 3x Extension (lol), Kodak Blacks and the like but I don't see why they should be getting stickied threads over someone like Raekwon who has earned the trust of listeners over the years...

Y'all fucked up by not giving that Nick Grant album the sticky it deserved tho. I support what I like, won't find many post by me in Migos or Drake threads, and very open to new shit...

How many of these young poster are going back and listening to shit from say 88-93, probably not too many...

Yea 1 has dre an tha west coast behind cuz that's all they got… tha other 1 comes from a competitive side were erryday new artist are broken out so you tell me who's bussin more …

I doubt Kendrick worth 18 maybe 10 but you stretchin bra

I think there's room for expansion in the Reason. I get where the OP is coming from and agree for the most part but not throwing shade on the current posters. The structure of Reason isn't good with the subforums. Most of the Reason threads are basically "The Face-off Forum" and "The Bootleg" but they all happen in the main forum.

I think consideration should be for reorganizing the subforums and enforcing that. Maybe an "Album Discussion" subforum, "Mixtape Discussion" subforum, "Debate" subforum and leave the main part for the random annoucements, tracks and shit like that. With the Album/Mixtape discussion subforums, there'll be room to mix in our favorite major/independent/up and coming artists projects without them getting lost in the mix.

I dont think they should be stickied over OGs

I think all new albums should be stickied side by side

It brings attention to albums that may need it but ppl are sleeping on. And may bring new listeners to a artist.

I agree...

But sticky space is limited. So things don't make the cut sometimes...

Big ups to the mod who stickied the Oddisee album tho, no other msg board had that...
