College isn't a guaranteed path to success sure it helps but it's just as important individuals diversify themselves.

I believe more people especially young Blacks should explore skills trades such being a electrician, plumber, welder, carpentry, and other skill type trade.

The trades are generally considerably cheaper to get, one doesn't have to go to school as long, and individuals also do accumulate the amount of debt either.

More individuals should look at entrepreneurship as well, because there is more money to be made when you work for yourself but it also requires more discipline.

Do you know how fukin stupid that sounds. Do you understand what that says of what you think about our race

'Low expectation havin mfer'- Chris Rock

Ngga thats what they tell ex-cons!! Tha fuk...

What is wrong with what he said? Everyone cant be millionaires or college grads even. Someone has to change that tire, Flip that burger, fix my AC unit, cut the grass.

If a Black person is content with their lives making $18.00 an hour, living a modest lifestyle and plans for a comfortable future. Let it happen.

How is it low expectations to not only think about the high achievers but also the low achievers that just want to have a modest lifestyle.

I think there's a geographical disconnect. Crude, You, and I are from Louisiana. The place where a person with a skilled trade can out earn a person with a degree by the hour, day, month, or year. We've seen this happen and have probably lived it. Where I'm from, the 2 year process tech degree is crushing it right now. Welders, construction, and electricians are right next to them. Clearing $80k and up. I made so much money after Rita it was unbelievable and I was just an instrument tech (associates degree). That gas ya'll burn in your car has to come from some where, truck drivers maybe or just plain magic. It really comes down to how you want to navigate your own life. A degree is great and all but there are other options, people need to know this.

I'm right next door in Texas it's the same way here bruh. People with a skilled trade make just as much if not more than people with a degree.

Also $20-25/hr carries you A LOT FARTHER down here than where old boy is from. Honestly cause of the low cost of living a single man like me could live like a king here in Texas on $25/hr.

Oh yes I plan on starting college again in January now that I'm older and can actually get financial aid to old boy putting down the trades.

Look up IEC(Independent Electrical Contractors). Also look up CEF(I believe it stands for Construction Education Foundations). Those are two good places to start.

How much do y'all think a college degree cost?

As an investment, I just don't see how it's not worth it.

Thanks bruh, Imma see into this tomorrow

I'm relatively young (20), and they would try to drill this into our heads back in high school.

This isn't the case though.

It will increase your chance for success, but I know my share of bum ass niggas with a bachelor's that can barely get a minimum wage job as a cashier.

Getting educated isnt all about being successful materially. Even after getting successful materially some people should still get educated. Even if its not thru college. Most people dont even know you don't even need a hs education to get a college degree.

Edcuation should be something you want to have for your own benefit of learning. You should never want to stop learning or never think you learned everything. Everyone should want to be edcuated..why stay ignorant. Life is harder when you are ignorant.
