that shit is not Hip Hop though

that's "pop-hop" as best

and only an uneducated, ignorant jackass (I don't care what university you paid your way through)

would cite those as examples of hip hop and what it represents

Ok, would you have preferred if the question was rephrased to "Is Pop Hop bad for Black America?"

Really, what difference would that make to anything?

todays version of Hip Hop collectively has a negative vibe... anybody saying anything else is in denial.

the corporations have bought out the mom and pop labels for their best interests...

look at the culture of drugs and death that permiates out of what is labeled Hip Hop.

it's a culture that promotes promiscuity, drug abuse, and murder, as well as materialism...

those are staples of today's Hip Hop...

not saying that they never where talked about before but you also had staples such as black unity, non-violence, redirecting negative energy within the 5 elements of Hip Hop...

now there is no re-direction , it's glorification... I sound like ya pops.. I know.

if you want to truly denounce these messages to children

Denounce it all

Not just the things where black males are the face of it

Yes jay-Z said big pimpin

But mainstream media embraces a woman who's famous for a sex tape, and conceived a child before the ink of her divorce dried, and that's before you get to her starring in a show that glorifies women as catty bitches whose main concern is clothes, mani's, pedi's, and whining

But no

Jay Z saying he likes to fuck different bitches as a young man is clearly the problem when comes to negative messages to women and men

When will y'all stop letting white media troll you

The problem with saying that we should denounce it all is that it assumes people are emulating all things violent. You can clearly see the correlation between a rapper's persona and how that influences how most Blacks dress, what they value in terms of material things, how they talk, walk, etc. That's a problem that doesn't lie in the lap of White media or White radio station execs. That shit falls on us. We place value in these bird bitches from Housewives and these lame niggas that rap about destroying they're community because "it's all I know". Until social stigmas return in the Black community that make these individuals villians instead of heroes, we'll bestuck with destructive music made by niggas with no real message behind their music

I've heard of Thomas Chatterton Williams and I must say he's not the worst black man I've ever heard criticize hip-hop (john mcwhorter or maybe shelby steele is) so I won't attack him, besides I skimmed it and didn't really ingest what he had to say.

Michael Eric Dyson said in one of his books and he put it very well that hip-hop is just like every other music blacks created, its hated and considered the bane of society..until the next thing comes along. If you've ever read Baldwin in one of his stories he talks about the culture of Jazz musicians, it should be noted that Jazz musicians were notorious for philandering and doing heroin, all the old Blues people hated it and wanted it to go away. It happens everytime, this is no different.

Bad parenting or single parent household is the first thing bad for Black America.

Theres always gonna be bad parents and divided households. I think now there isnt a village raising a child. Because of crimes and pedos, parents are the only ones who want to raise their child.

Whereas before you grew up getting advice and spending time with diff people who also and cared and looked out for you. Now parents are working all day while the kids spend their time on worldstarhiphop, or trying to avoid being on worldstar hiphop. Lol. Being raised by the internet,tv, dealing with peer pressure at school, drugs, and trying to make money because parents got laid off, and everything else.

Even if you raised your kid right, it still takes a little luck and good timing that they stay on the right path.

People need 2 stop tryna "blame" hip hop 4 shyt.. If anything its good 4 the black community cuz wit out it... We would have way less young black people making 6 and seven figures..

So what you're saying is... because people have cried wolf before about black music.... there is no wolf -- meaning that no black music-based subculture could be bad for blacks?

What makes rap music different from all other forms of music supposedly associated with everything wrong with the world?

You didn't answer the question.

Nobody is saying hip hop is associated with everything wrong in the world.

Every case where a music-based subculture is alleged to be a factor in social ills deserves to be considered on its own. They should not be dismissed out of hand because of previous false alarms.

last I checked hip hop doesnt have discretion when it comes to arresting, prosecuting, and sentencing blacks to jail/prison...
