I'm a fan of Jay-Z and X but i honestly believe that dude is hella insecure. It probably comes from his childhood being considered ugly and whatnot. It sounds harsh but i honestly believe that. It's probably why he has so many weird and awkward moments.

No the issue started because X felt Jay-Z did some snake shit in that battle. Were they rivals? Yes but that wasn't the reason why X didn't like him, if that was the case he would've hated more artists. Part of it was rivalry and the other part was that X felt Jay did some sucka shit, that was what came out of Irv's own mouth. The battle happened in 1993 so they weren't even close to being rivals like that at the time and the song Time To Build was recorded in 1995 so again it started with that battle.

Yall are speaking alot of truth right here. I always had this theory that there are 2 Jay-z's. There is Bragger Jay and there is Humble,Introspective Jay. Its seems like after RD you got alot of Bragger Jay. (See imaginary Player). He had his moments where the introspective\humble side came out but the aggressive I'm the shit attitude was more prevalent. After Ether however it seemed the shy, humble, introspective Jay was shown alot more in the forefront. He may have masked it behind his whole "grown man" and "I'm rich " movement he had going on but after Ether he personality seemed to change. How do some of yall see it?

One thing i loved about the old days was that rappers used to have a crew that all represented one look, one idea and whatnot. All the way from Dogg Pound, to Ruff Ryders, Wu-Tang and whatnot. Wu had the whole 5% thing goin' and everybody had that crazy, street nigga look with the fronts, crazy hair-styles, bandanas and shit, Dogg Pound represented dogs that dogged bitches, smoked weed to mark their territory (like dogs usually do by peeing) and etc. Like i just loved that whole shit not only from these guys but from a few others too.
