He took the place of Jeezy and will fade just the same.
Maalik;1987403 said:By "our", I mean our generation, 2000 & up. It's inevitable. People will dismiss him for a myriad of reasons but, I guarantee when it's all said & done, people gonna look back at the 2000s & call Rick Ross a legend. I'm not talking about the 1990s & the Golden Era, I'm talking about artists who came out after 2000. It's only a few from our generation who have "legend potential".....Kanye West, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Drake. Rick Ross will be one too.
1. His music has progressed with each album. He's a completely different rapper on Deeper than Rap than he was on Port of Miami.
2. He's released 4 albums & shows no symptoms of slowing down (Most rappers last 2-3 albums)
3. Every album of his has went Gold, in a time period of rampant downloading & slow sales
4. He appreciates the craft of Lyricism. Staying true to New York City core values while bringing that Miami/South Beach flavor.
5. He withstood beefs from two of the most credible rappers in Hip Hop. (Jeezy & 50)
6. He has legitimate smashes ("Hustlin", "Boss", "Mafia Music", "Mafia Music II", "Maybach Music Series", "BMF" & "Aston Martin Music")
7. DESPITE THE INTERNET HATE...he's cosigned by everyone. Rakim, Raekwon, Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Big Meech, Birdman.
8. He brings the music. He not Mixtape Weezy status but, he keeps niggas fed with music on the regular, whether it be mixtapes, appearances, street singles or albums.
9. His career is on an upward trend. Most rappers start out hot then fade out. Look to DMX & 50 Cent for example. Only a few start out slow & gain momentum. For example, Jay-Z.
Hate all you want but, he's been putting up the material.
usmarin3;1987415 said:I doubt Ross will be around in 5 years, it's not like his fanbase his huge or he switch up his formula. His albums are basically the same shit over and over, aside from a handful of rappers, these niggas are disposable.
You are already seeing TI and Jeezy starting to phase out!!!
motrilla;1987421 said:I like Rozays music but this nigga will not be a "legend" to be legendary you have to make timeless music that the next generation will hear. Look at it this way you see how niggas be on here debating Pac,Biggie,Nas,Jay Z etc..... 10-15 yrs after some of their albums dropped no one will be doing that for Rozay years from now
King Drew;1987422 said:Please tell me you're a troll.
Maalik;1987425 said:He could...but, to be real, him saying the same shit over & over aint really no different than Jay-Z. I own every Hov album & he pretty much just packaged up the same song in a different ribbon from Volume 1 to Blueprint III. Its just about the presentation I guess.
All I'm saying is & niggas can't say I'm tripping cuz its true. Jeezy, The Game & Luda started HOT, selling 2-5x Platinum, new artist on the block & 5 years later, they on the downslope. Rick Ross, on the other hand, was behind alot of niggas in 2006/2007 & 5 years later, he's built up. That's all I'm saying.

Most people from the East Coast don't fuck with Master P or Three 6 Mafia......but, I guarantee if you go to Memphis or New Orleans, them niggas is celebrated.
usmarin3;1987432 said:Because Blueprint sounds like Reasonable Doubt and Black album sounds like BP3. smh All Ross albums have given off the fake mafioso persona bs he is tryna fake, he still hasn't made personal music (which is what defines all great rappers), no one knows shit about Ross at this point other than his fake persona. Ross is still selling the same amount of albums over and over, he a barely gold artist, he hasn't crossed over or transformed rap at all to be a legend. The nigga ain't never even been on TI, Luda, or Jeezy level.

motrilla;1987448 said:aight so you're saying Ross is local legend cool. Regarding those other artist you named I'm from the east coast and we fucked with No Limit heavy niggas stayed playing Ice Cream Man , Ghetto D all that shit and Three 6 when they was on their Tear Da Club Up shit the reason we still heard all that was a "Legend" would transcend their region and get accepted everywhere

Oh hai there, I live in the South and I know for sure we don't consider Ross as a legend nor do we believe he has potential of being one.Maalik;1987427 said:Just because you dont consider someone a legend doesn't mean their region doesn't.

Yes, the ignorant will of course cherish drake and wanye but those will not be our regional legends. If anything bun b will be our future legend.Maalik;1987430 said:Fuck outta here nigga. I dont like Drake & Wayne but, you's a fucking fool if you dont think this generation will celebrate those two. You're completely out of the fucking loop.
