You truly are fucking retarded.

Ja was popular he sold

Jay was popular he sold

Nelly was popular he sold

Big was popular he sold

The people who have Big L as an all-time great aren't basing it how many records he sold

Would you rather be rich or famous?

You can't be the goat with 2 cds and you can't be the goat with no cd

Why not ? Some effort is better than no effort.

Big can be considered the goat and 3k can't based on solo effort. But me I'd rather be rich

Popularity >>>>>

Drake is the most popular rapper out and almost all rappers would kill for that drizzy feature right now.

Moreso than J.cole, and Cole went plat.

Popularity and criminal acclaim... both or at least 1 of the 2. The money is in touring and endorsements now. That's why Flo-Rida drops a single every 6 months but the nigga hasn't had an album out in like 10 years.

Popularity.

Sales isn't an indicator of financial success it hasn't been since about 2008. Labels barely even eat off of record sales.

Popularity is a little more important because it allows artists to get deals and endorsements or even tour locally with the little fame they acquire for the time they're hot.

This. And I posted about this prob 7 years ago too when Nas was begging his label for funding of Lost Tapes 2. Record labels have been investing less and less into promoting artists every year because record sales don't mean shit more and more each year. Artists don't even really have album rollouts anymore, unless you're Taylor Swift or something. You announce it and drop your shit 2 weeks later. Other than for big pop stars, that's why going independent is the move. You can sell 60k in pure sales and have the #1 album in America now.

Streaming is where its at as well and artists do make money off of that.

not always there are rappers that have respect in the culture but less famous like Big L

I put ≠ as in an equal sign with a slash through it. It's a non-equation sign - pretty much saying respect doesn't equal being famous. Might not be showing right for everyone. But Remy may have more respect in the hood but she sure isn't more famous..and it damn sure isn't getting her sales either.
