THANK YOU!

Try to put niggas on to some dope shit, and they sleep. Try to explain why you listen to a variety of music, even if other people call it wack, and "you not a true hip-hop head". SMH.

You a fan of Kendrick Lamar?

imo content/subject matter is the most important attribute to becoming a legendary musician. Songs with deep content are timeless, revered and held in high regards for decades as opposed to lyrical songs with limited content. Eminem, big and most of jay's song are for the moment but krs 1,pac & nas music wil live forever. Case in point, i used to bump 'ready to die' more than 'me against the world' 14 years ago but today 'me against the world' is my sound track. Records like 'dear mama','shed so many tears' are jus timeless introspective shit. Nuthin on ready to die is on that level. There's a reason why bob marley is the goat musician and not michael jackson.

i feel you

Hell yeah! Back before he changed his rap name! Lol, I listen to everything, and I'm quick to open an ear to a new artist who somebody recommends. But a lotta these niggas just so stuck in they ways, they don't see how a rapper they don't like has anything to offer to the game. And therefore, if a lot of people bump said rapper, the game is dead. Fuck outta here.

Buying consumers.. but unlike white people who treat it as music and dispose of it when need bee.. nigga take the garbage to seriously and will fight you over some rappers beef... are talk about the shit like its politics or something important to the enth degree. they might consume "RAP".. i want say hiphop.. but .. NIGGAS are consumed... by "RAP"/ HIPHOP

I have never been to a Juggalo concert but I have heard numerous violent acts attributed to fans of ICP, they became so consumed with this particular style of "rap" that they have murdered in the name of it and assaulted legendary rappers with bottles.

I have never been in a fight over a rappers beef, or seen one, the majority of forum blogs, rap-websites, and message-boards are predominatly white as evidenced by this one.
Record sales and concert-tickets also reflect that predominance.

To be consumed with a subculture birthed out of the necessity for expression is nothing new to African-Americans,
every generation of our people has had their era of artistic expression, from the juke-joints to the ciphers, its our culture and we should embrace it.

so you're saying that the majors are totally justified in what they have done to the mainstream of rap music?

Their is no justification for diluting and packaging "culture" for mass consumption unless of course you are a profit-driven entity who's sole function is to generate revenue/profit.

When money is the motivation, music takes a backseat.

Mainstream HipHop consumers get what they ask for by purchasing and supporting mainstream artists.

Best new artist from the Westcoast IMO, outta Compton who just dropped an album entitled 'Overly Dedicated', but his EP is free if you Google it 'Kendrick Lamar EP'.

I know that, I'm just saying that they socially engineered what dominates the airwaves today, because there was a time where women and white people who are major consumers in the mainstream supported all kinds of rap AND STILL WOULD IF IT WAS PRESENTED TO THEM WITH THE SAME VIGOR AS THE OTHER KINDS.

All genres of rap sold records in the 90's before they decided to only promote certain kinds which fit their marketing and advertisement schemes outside of rap (cars, clothes, alcohol, jewelry, weaponry, drugs, prostitution.) mainstream rap has been mainly used to promote these products for almost ten years now.

The music industry shut out the East Coast in the early 90's 1st.

Further, they shut out the West Coast in the mid 90's second.

At last, they shut out alternative rap in the late 90's third.

A few seeped through the cracks, but evidenced by the Lupe situation, they're not trying to have that anymore. So it's over for the major label blueprint as far as rap music is concerned, so whatever's left out there is going to continue to die AND INDIE AND UNDERGROUND RAPPERS WILL CONTINUE TO GROW.
