See this on the IC a lot...Any proof?

you cant hear? maybe you just dont recognize Cons and Rhymefest flow. but yeah they all over those albums. Why you think Cons went on that bitch fit a few months ago? Rhymefest was Kanye's artist but he left just before Ye signed with the ROC but he played a huge roll on College Dropout, writing Jesus Walks to begin with. Kanye aint rap about Jesus since but everything Rhymefest drops has atleast one song about Jesus or Christian faith on it.

Is Kanye worldwide because of his production, his rhymes or his antics?!?

and you still haven't answered why he deserves GOAT!

Kanye is worldwide because of his overall artistry. To tell you the truth, he's more known as a rapper than he is a producer as there's people that weren't up on Kanye before College Dropout that aren't aware that he produced that album nor that he produced for the likes of Alicia Keys, Brandy, Keyshia Cole, Ludacris, Nas, Diddy, Lil' Kim, Foxy Brown, Talib, and Mos Def. There's others that just know of his production work for himself and Jay Z. Case in point, Quincey Jones saying Kanye was just a rapper.

As for as him not being GOAT rapper, why does his catalog automatically make him a Top 10 producer, but it's not enough to make him a Top 10 rapper? If putting together dope albums as a producer trumps technical skill then why isn't enough for him to be a Top 10 rapper? True there are rappers that rap better than Kanye, but they are they making better music? The question all comes down to whether the music is rated higher than his skill. If it's a matter of skill, then we should also be questioning his skill as a producer.

Kanye is a great producer, and he defintiely ushered in a whole new vibe of hip hop music. But as a lyrical technician, Kanye is slightly below average. He is incredibly inconsistent, and honestly, you get the feeling listening to him that he thinks his verses are nicer than they actually are. The best rhymes I've heard Kanye deliver are the ones where he is being truthful and honest, and lately, he's too caught up in his own hype to do that anymore. Maybe when his grows up a little bit, he will take that next step, but until then, he is his own worst enemy as far as ability goes

This..............

Yes there are rappers with better skill who make better music. The likes of Nas, Common, Jay, Ghostface, are GOAT mentions because they combine skill with longevity and body of work, something Kanye doesn't have, he makes good music yes, but as a rapper he is not a top tier rapper and his music is not any better than a lot of the work some of the names i mentioned have produced. Kanye doesn't get extra points for his production skills, when were are clearly judging him as a rapper, as a rapper he isn'\t a GOAT contender and probably never will be, as a artist that combines everything he is one of the best Hip-Hop as seen but if Q Tip don't get brought up as a GOAT contender with his body of work and production skills then neither does Kanye.

Q Tip has dropped highly acclaimed solo albums, has produced some of the best cuts in rap history, and was a member of one of the GOAT groups in rap history and eeven he is neve mentioned in the same breath as Nas, Jay and co, so why should Kanye, who to me is a even lesser artist than Tip is?

Makes a lot of sense right here. His flow and cadence is boring, and his beats are okay, nothing extrordinary. He just sampling a few bars as opposed to other producers that make sonic masterpieces. When he can get different parts of records to make hot songs then he'll move up a notch with me

"I dont need writ-ers, I might bounce ideas"

right now....naw....longevity does play a big part...if he retired now....and his shit is still being played 10yrs later then yeah....which i think would happen.

honestly i think Kanye will be remembered as one of the greatests artists period....regardless of genre....

and a lot of niggas here got hate in thier blood....being nitpicky about shit when they dont knock less than GOAT rapping skills for other rappers *cough tupac cough*

to say Kanye wouldnt be remembered as a GOAT hip hop artists cause he is not as good on the mic as Nas or Jigga is fucking absurd...

Kill yourself.

Cool counterargument.

Kanye, like the Beatles, was not the most technically skilled at his craft. And both benefited from having other talented people assist them (in the beatles case Phil Spector, Brian Epstein).

Ultimately, they both creatively pushed their respective genres further than what anyone ever expected; completely revolutionizing their music genres and inspiring countless others (IMO no Kanye =no drake, nicki minaj as we know her, lupe fiasco, cudi, j. cole, Big Sean, and thats just to name a few mainstream artists). Kanye might not be the GOAT as far as talent, but his contributions and influence make him one of the most IMPORTANT people ever in Hip Hop, just like the Beatles.

Now argue against that faggot.

Kanye is better than Q-Tip lyrically, Kanye has shown more growth, and he's a better producer. I love ATCQ but Q Tip is not on the same level. And Kanye has had more impact on music, period.

Kanye having more impact than Q Tip is arguable. Lets not forget that A Tribe Called Quest are the biggest rap group in history alongside NWA, Public Enemy, and Run DMC, in fact many would also say that the Native Toungues posse which they were apart of paved the way for artists like Kanye to come about. Q Tio has revolutionized the game as much as Kanye, saying Kanye is more influential is like saying Nas is more influential than Rakim, its all good acknowledging Kanyes accomplishments but always remember who paved the way, because Q Tip is as influential to Kanyes generation as Kanye is to this generation.

Kanye maybe a better producer not to sure about him being a better lyricist, but the point remains, just because Kanye is a great producer who has made good music doesn't mean he should be in GOAT contention, just like i wouldn't class a artist like Tip as a GOAT contender, i respect their artistry but i realize they aren't up there with the Nas, Jays, Commons of this world when it comes to straight rapping

Excellent post. Qtip has one of the most distinct Voices\cadences in Rap. Also, Tip was\is known as the abstract so, his verses had to be deciphered much like cats like to do with Lupe.
