This reminds me of the whoopins I used to get from my grandmother

she would beat the shit out of me and my brother and then say

"Whatever dosent kill you will make you stronger".

JayZ got stronger after Ether, he is a BOSS, not some rap-slave workin' on Massah's plantation...we need more business men and less rappers

Hallelujah.

So basically... Nas sonned him and WON

The beef officially started on wax by Nas on WE WILL SURVIVE, and i would say it officially ended up around BLUEPRINT 2.

I thought the beef began with Jay-Z on In My Lifetime.

"I heard you can match a triple platinum album buck for buck but only ur singles going gold" - Jay-Z

"We were the inspiration for most y'all niggas rhymes since 94" -Jay-Z

I remember an interview when Prodigy alleged that Jigga was taking shots at them, and i also listened to Murda Musik and it sound like P was taking shots back. The origin of this battle could be made into a thread.

You are probably right, i thought was going at Mase for some reason on the first line you posted. What song is that second line from, i don't remember for some reason.

I'mma have to check out the Donkey if it's as dramatic as y'all make it sound.

I made a really nice thread in the Donkey and gave them all a chance
to post their favorite chicks...not a single Donkey poster had a single female to post
the same chick that I shitted on that shredded the evidence of my "simping"
came in the thread and kissed my fist. :)

Nas cant lose, he got metaphysical on JayZ's ass but Jigga-man got STRONGER.

Nas is Nat Turner, Denmark Vessey, Gabriel Prosser, and Dessalines the ferocious.

JayZ is Norman Rockafeller, Bill Gates, Donald TrumP, and Steve Jobs.

I will always support my brothers in the strugggle, but I cant forget the "spooks" who sit by the door ;)

Lol I just listen to hip hop too much.

The first line is from "A Million & One Questions". The Second is from "Streets Is Watching". On "Friend Or Foe" he had a bar where in it he said "Dun loc'ing" and Prodigy said in "Quiet Storm", "You's a dick blower, tryin to speak the 'dun' language/ what the drilly wit that tho, it ain't banging".

I always thought they were taking shots at each other, but i could be reachin.

EDIT: Friend or Foe 2, not the first one.

I thought Memp's" Is that your chick" started it.. Isn't that about Nas' baby mama??? For real Jay has been taking little shots here and there for a while Nas kept ignoring it until the ish got out of hand... to me Ether was the one and only reply needed... He smashed Jay's face with that is..

Hell Jay had to basically become a CEO to recoup from the ish... and people act all matter of factly about it.. GTFOOH

that was on I AM .. why didn't Jay go after him straight after that?

lol .. but the beef aint over with Nas .. he been sneak dissing Jay on all their features

That's back when everything was sublimal, but heads definetly saw that shit coming. Same shit with Jay with Mobb Deep "where you and your man hang in every verse of your rhymes", which is Jay talking about Mobb Deeps joint about hanging in Marcy

Forgive me if I'm wrong... but I think those niggs you listed owned their shit 1 HUNNID... I don't think Jigg owns any enterprise FULLY on his own... it's always a 'joint venture'

It officialy heated up with that "you want to ball till you fall" line, because Bleek had that line on COMING OF AGE album. Nas repeated those lines on "NASTRADAMUS", "you want beef i can help you with that". That's when Summer Jam happened, and the infamous "ASK NAS, HE DON'T WANT IT WITH HOV" occured and Prodigy gotted sonned.

I think that first line is for Mase, "check your own video, you will always be number 2" ....see the Can't nobody hold me down video. Plus in the IMMIGARY PLAYER video, that dude dressed like Mase with the Versace shirt and popping Crystal. lmfao

.. and got disposed with:

" Rip the FREEWAY, shoot through MEMPHIS with money bags

Stop in Philly, order cheese steaks and eat BEANS fast

And bring it back up top, remove the fake king of New York"

To be honest with y'all, I don't think Jay's professional career was hurting too much after Ether. He already established a spot for himself, mainstream wise. I think people who were hardcore hip hop fans think Nas won, but the average mainstream hip hop fan didn't check for that. So I think his career remained strong, even if he was lyrically destroyed by Nas.

The Stillmatic freestyle was cheating.
Its an unspoken rule that you cant channell Rakim or his music during a beef.
The energy is too powerful and Nas knew that...

SMH @ Nas fans fighting dirty.

LoL@ this thread.

h

Jay vs. Nas still relevant. It was a great a battle between two great Titans. I still think Jay won that battle lyrically.. Jay was too damn witty for Nas..

that the thing though.. no one is questioning that... We are talking the beef... Jay Loss... He spoke really grimey and got gut checked... He couldn't recoup lyrically after that he could barely respond... So people start looking at things outside of the beef to compensate which makes no sense...

Only in the 50 cent's rules of beefing is the beef suppose to end your career. Most beefs back in the day were with the top artist at the time and regardless of what happened (who loss, who won) they went on and rapped another day... Just because Jay was success after the beef doesn't take away from the fact that he loss..
