You should try going back to slinging checks imo

I think they're safer than credit for larger amounts of money

not sure what yu mean

Well a check is a specific amount of money and it has to be endorsed and each check is numbered and has the exact same info on it

You can't really rob a person for a check, they can just cancel it immediately after the robbing

A lot of large-scale distributors only accept checks because they're safer than cash(deliverymen in various industries used to get robbed for cash a lot) and it's less of a hassle than storing a company's credit card info, which could be stolen or misused in some way

90% of the time at my job, if a company is making a purchase of $10,000 or more, they bring a pre-printed check in with the exact amount on it

That's just what I've noticed

Got my shit jacked twice last year.

Me and the missus went to file taxes last year. Turbotax kept coming back with all kind of issues. Called the IRS and somebody filed a 1040EZ return in my name, fuckin up our ability to file taxes. Had to make an identity theft claim with the IRS, calls to the credit bureaus and FTC, make a claim with the police 'cause I'm pretty sure it was some fuckin illegal that got hold of my shit. That investigation is still ongoing.

Then three months later we got a notification from Paypal about my card being used at a gang of gas stations in LA and Orange Counties. We checked and somebody got me for $900 worth of gas swipes. Thankfully it's Paypal so my money got refunded within an hour and my card got shut down and I got a new one issued. I think what happened was that I overlooked a bogus card reader somewhere and either got gas at the pump with one or used an ATM with one. I'm usually pretty diligent on that shit, but I know the week before it happened I was in a rush a few times and didn't pay attention.

Ok, that makes sense.

I thought you were talking about personal checks at first.

A little bit of an inconvenience to use cashier's checks for everything, but they'd definitely be more secure.

Shit is scary. Seems like we worry too little about white-collar crime.

Stop swiping so much, use more cash

I'm going to be doing more of this. Any other tips will be gladly appreciated.

I was gonna say this too. But sometimes not an option.

I'd limit the online purchases. Go thru one major exchange I use PayPal when I can.

Limit third party budgeting sites like MINT or quicken

Check the accounts at least weekly

damn your bank let fraud go undetected for a month? leave that bank my dude. as for the stolen identity part you definitely have to cya when you get home. go fill out the police report and pay for a service like lifelock. you can also put things like daily spending limits on ur account at the new bank.

*side note* 10k is a lot of money to not notice. that is bad and very careless on your part.
