I get tested prior to becoming sexually active with my new man and after wards as well.

I will be doing open testing with my future s/o. I wouldn't feel completely comfortable any other way.

Once at that level, I am usually the one to initiate the conversation in regards to testing and I suggest open testing where the both of us get tested together and each of us give permission for the doctor to disclose all results between the two of us. I think all couples should invest in this.
