How Magna Carta Holy Grail really grew on me and what it says about Jay's current status

Horrible album, best song had 3 bars on it, terrible album, trash lyrics, lackluster album, features outshined Hov almost each joint, rushed album, main hit sounded more like a JT hit, production was straight not your retro Timbaland sound so wasn't as great as expected.... I'm a Jigga Warrior and I even used the shyt as a weedplate

better than AG, WTT, or even BP3 lmao go sniff a bag ur trippin Kidd, album was his worse by far and stopped listening after maybe two weeks, and I usually bang Hov all year around.... Total disappointment and letdown in my opinion and I'm never critical of Jay

See i argue individual points objectively so i can be on both sides of the fence.

How is this Jay's "white people' album??? B/c he references art and designers? He's been mentionin art for 5+ years now and designers for his whole career

Imo this is his 'Turn up, stay young n relevant' album. Hence no real substance and just 'bangers' so to speak. At the time i said 'down south beats' and nggas acted like i was crazy. But yes, Fukwitme, Crown, Beach is better, la famailia are all those type of modern beats.

But the ngga cant help if his subject matter happens to be more in line with rich white peple. But even w/ that, the SOUND of Tom Ford and Picasso is not white at all. Only Holy Grail falls into that category. And somehwereinamerica. It sounds very radio-ready. Hate that dumb ass song and them corny ass horns. Do you dance the chubby checker to that shyt?

i understand ppl do change and grow but doesn't mean you have to come up with reasons as why it's still good, if it's not good then it's not good, it's simple....

But who decides what's good you??? The IC??? Ppl on twitter and fb??? Just becuz the heads or the jay haters don't believe something is good doesn't make it fact that it isn't good just like if the fans believe it's good doesn't make it fact that it is it's all subjective to the listener.... Jay is the only rapper where there is no middle ground either his albums are arguable classic or it's wack on here... I don't believe it's his best but I don't believe it's his worse it was a middle ground album imo

i disagree, many would agree that blueprint and rd are his best....but the volume series is good but not his best, i feel like a lot of ppl could agree they are all good albums.....then albums like kc, bp3, mchg are towards the bottom

for what it's worth, no one should take into account the opinions of the IC...just read some of the stuff ppl say around here

Not readin 6 pages. Big Jay-z Fan. That wack shit wack. Next time nigga wanna do a commercial, I better see Just blaze in that studio. That LBGT sound ain't where it's at. I don't care if he's 45 or 25. Jay is a brooklyn hustler at his core, Just will bring that out of him. I think he know this album ain't shit, I bet he wait for just to get a hole in his schedule next album. It ain't the worst album ever, but it just don't feel right. The energy ain't right. I ain't see him grow his hair out or nothin, I bet he ain't even bring out the B.I.G. chain. I hope he read this shit. I know he lurk on this bitch. He better bring that feel back, or he gon go out on some Jordan for the wizards shit.

So Tom ford sounds white b/c its edm influenced.

So when kanye was havin us lose our minds on Late Registration, did we question who he was sampling? Or who his co-exec producer was? (some random white guy no one knows, Jon Brion)

Point is, yes, there IS crossover white music. But thats only bad if it sounds bad. Thats the only thing u should judge by. The music, not who ultimately consumes it.

So just b/c Empire state of mind was white people pop doesnt mean it was white music. Just b/c Tom ford was influenced by edm doesnt mean the net producut idnt GRIMEY as fuk.

Holy grail and somewhere are the only intenionally radio, cringeworhty songs imo. And even.then from what i remember yall LOVE somewhere.

Just judge the music, not by who likes it

I see A lot of so called hip hop fans time and time again bash certain artist (Jay-Z) for whatever reason they feel. So instead of bashing said artist, just big-up YOUR favorite artist, Every album an artist drops is open to accolades or criticism, But the comments coming from some on this site in particular is borderline politician (Republican) like. I don't have to speak up for HOV because his albums sale on an average of 2 million copy's each time he drops. Oh by the way, That 2 million average is partially why Jay-Z keeps dropping albums, (2 Million People Don't Agree With Your Point Of View) But I'll let you tell it"

You Say > Fuck sales and tours. Niggas always bring that shit up.

You can say fuck the sales, But not the tour, Because people had enough time to dissect & digest the album thus the high turnout of his tour which means they like something about the album.

I try not to be an uppity rap nigga but sometimes I wonder if niggas even bother to listen to what is being said anymore.

MCHG was his second best album after AG. Calling it wack is...wack.

I think most jayz haters are just dumb niggas that don't have the mental capacity to understand the double entendres & artistic references he makes do they just say "its wack." Nah bruh it ain't wack your just ghetto trash and don't know wtf he talking about.

i think ppl that pay attention to dumb shit like double entendres don't have the mental capacity to see that music ain't about that shit....it's about the album is boring as hell and isn't enjoyable to listen to, it's actually that simple

Na, sayin that shit is wack.

i like it and my wife likes it but my 19 y.o. daughter said the shit is wack. my 16 y.o. son doesnt count cuz he downloaded that lil b mixtape so he lucky he gets to eat in my house right now. so 2 say its hot and 1 says its wack.

I've always said Relapse was a wack album and explained why it's wack. I don't like Horrorcore and the album lacks replay value besides Beautiful/Deja Vu

U gotta be immature to think i would dislike an album just because a poster does. That kind of rap is not my cup of tea. U have to be objective it's a terrible album and as i say only a stan would defend an album everyone else considers wack
