depends how you look at it. i mean musically he's already fallen off. but sales wise your thread makes no sense b/c he already did a milli with carter 3 that also got mixed reviews. then came right back with carter 4 with another milli. and if the carter 5 does 875,000 1st week i wouldn't even call that fallen off.

Nah cant see it.......

50 was a gimmick that went south when people got tired of rap beefs......

Somehow Weezy got loyal fans that buy his shit, subpar or not.......

2005

The Massacre - very high first week sales (1.1 mill)

- broke record for most sales in 4 days

- promoted by beef (piggybank)

- mixed reviews from critics ( but more favorable than C4)

- fans disappointed http://www.metacritic.com/music/the-massacre

2011

The Carter IV - very high first week sales (964,000)

- broke itunes record in 4 days

- promoted by beef (it's good)

- mixed reviews from critics

- heavily disliked by many fans of Carter III, fans very disappointed http://www.metacritic.com/music/tha-carter-iv

2 albums later 50 cent is a shadow of his former self

part of why 50 fell off is extreme hype that he couldn't match with his album and over-saturation of the market

I'd say Carter 4 did not live up to the hype, and Wayne has just about over-saturated the market

so is lil wayne about to fall off?

smh@ u comparin wayne wit da muuunkee woodface need'd feminem 2 sell & he will neva sell a milli on his 5th & 7th solo album da 1st wk like weezy cuz woodface dont have talent that muuuunkee needz BEEF & hype 2 sell unlike wayne who is a real artist so wayne can fall off now cuz hez shittin on woodface!

It doesn't matter, in terms of Lil Wayne's "fanbase" Carter 3 was his first album.

GRODT did a 2 milli in 2 weeks
- loved by critics
- loved by fans

Carter III
- milli first week
- loved by critics
- loved by fans

- The Massacre
- not loved by fans or critics
- MONSTER SALES

The Carter 4
- not loved by fans or critics
- MONSTER SALES

see a pattern? when you are putting out great music and selling well its great. But when the music quality drops, sales are short lived.

and Carter 3 is practically Lil Waynes first album from a 'fanbase' perspective so this comaprison is legit

how is that a pattern when weezy has like 8 or 9 soloz compared 2 da muuunkeez 4? smh wayne is a real artist unlike woodface who needz BEEF & GIMMICKZ 2 sellz thatz y wayne has been able 2 drop 8 or 9 soloz

Talent is all ones opinion so its up to the listener
but when the fanbase gets fed up with the quality of the music from the artist - there is a problem.
Go to metacritic.com, see the reviews from the fans. People that purchased Carter 4 are not happy with the quality of the music and many prob. wont cop any more from wayne.

the same people wasn't happy with Carter 3 and see what it did. Those same people that wanna see Wayne fall (like u) are still gonna check for his music. Hell its gonna be people thats gonna buy it just to hate it......what kind of stupid shit is that???

There is a difference in the quality of music between Carter 3 and Carter 4
If Carter 4 was well received, I would tip my hat to him and not make this thread but see:

Interesting thread premise, but GRODT was 50's debut, and Wayne had several solo LPs before C3, as well as his work with the Hot Boyz.

LiL Waynes career started off slow and he built up steam and now he's at his peak, 50-Cent peaked on his debut and has gone downhill every since.

50-Cent loses 500,00+ fans every time he drops an album while LiL Wayne maintains a solid fanbase of loyal supporters.

50-Cent was a gimmick that isolated himself while LiL Wayne has shown unity and brought people together within the industry.

that makes no sense you can't just discredit his earlier albums that built his loyal fan base. i know plenty of niggas who been fucking with wayne since the block is hot. So let's just pretend his other 5/6 albums did nothing at all for his career. he just popped up and sold a million.

this is true. Wayne worked hard to reach his status in hip hop right now.

thats an odd statement to me...
neither is a good mc by traditional standards...
but I bump 50 occassionally... I never bump Wayne...

i bump wayne more than i bump 50......but that part to each is own. U still can't use the same logic from 50 on wayne.

Carter II is a better indicator of the Core Weezy fanbase. It scanned 238,000 first week.

The majority of the fans that were picked up in Carter 3 and Carter 4 are bandwagon jumpers that are fans of Wayne cuz he is the shyt at the moment. But once he starts to cool off, they will jump to the next trend and abandon him.
