Wow. You may not be but all the kids who bought his album are. Wayne is the only thing they have to look up to mainstream wise. He is the biggest rapper out right in the very moment. Fuck outta here talking about Lupe. You think they are gonna promote and give Lupe airplay? You think that ADHD generation is gonna take the time to look in a book when they can just turn on Wayne because they only play him on the radio? They are being conditioned. Point blank period.

The hip hop game is being used for a completely different purpose now. Wayne is just part of the agenda they're pushing and you guys are just eating it up, no questions asked.

shut up
just shut the fuck up

All of it is entertainment but u can't be critical of a person who doesn't rhyme about political awarness as much u can't get mad at somebody who does. We choose what we wanna hear and honestly when i'm drinking or kickin it THE LAST thing i wanna hear is Lupe...sorry

Hip Hop can't win on the IC. I mean, just because you don't rock with the music doesn't mean that you gotta knock him for doing numbers. People act like he stuck a gun to the heads of 964,000 people and made them cop his album. Just accept that dude has people that like his music enough to buy it and move on.

And I completely understand that. Whatever floats your boat kinda thing. My issue comes in when people attempt to act like mainstream hip hop doesn't have an BIG influence in the way people act and how they approach situations. Or when niggas attempt to imply that no politics are involved behind the scenes of this genre. But I get where you're coming from. I was just trying to say bigger things are at stake.

but even before the bandwagon jumpers or the new wayne fans (cuz there are some of those too) Wayne was doin pretty good numbers anyway even when they jump ship, he will be okay

I know that. I bought all his cd's (of the strength of Cash Money) and supported all the mixtapes up until about mid 09. That's when I wiped my hands wit the nigga. I did illegally download IANAHB though lol. bumped that for a couple days

Of course, same here. I'm on that ignorant shit when I'm gettin slurred or zooted but where's the balance? Rappers used to have a balance of different types of records to fit whatever situation or mood.

Shit, I thought Wayne was the least talented nigga in Cash Money, well besides Turk. Juvenile always outshined the nigga. Put out better albums and had better songs but I was a Cash Money fan just like I was a Roc A Fella, Ruff Ryder, and Bone fan. So I was down to support most of the shit them niggas put out

Carter 1 was my fav album. Now a days it's Carter 2

First off, I don't know what made you think I stan for Lupe, I don't. Stop assuming what I'd say. You don't know and you never will because Lupe never will sell that many. Whether Nas or Wayne, I think the diversity of hip hop is gone. Same content, same flow, same image. Do you disagree? Second, I never was came on here bitching about his sales. Ha! I'd rather have that house negro push that many units than his white counterparts. I came on here replying to someone who was implying that this would be good for hiphop. Third, I'm on some 'dumb shit' when you can't hold reply without attacking the poster. Like I said before, either contribute or move on.

Wrong!!!! the diversity in MAINSTREAM hip hop is gone. Diversity in hip hop is alive and well. Its just not in ur face like it used to be. U can still find ur rappers that speak on real shit...they just are not being pushed in ur face like the Wayne's and Jay's are. Its a capitalist society we live in. They are only gonna push what makes money.

1.) Mainstream is where the power lies. The success of society depends on how we raise the generation that will run it. They're not learning in school (school-systems fails), instead they learn from the media. And today, hip hop is what everyone all over the world is listening to. MAINSTREAM hip hop.

2.) Diversity is not well. In order for those rappers to eat who don't fit Lil wayne mold, they have to sell. These rappers (ALL of them mainstream or underground)are broke signing 360 deals that say in the contract they'll get promotion only for the label to promote 1/2 artists. Believe it or not, many people don't know hip hop outside mainstream (kids) and that is because:

3.) We aren't allowed to decide anymore for ourselves. Shit is shoved down your throat & once you say...I don't think so-&-so is GOAT, niggas get all emotional like artist are paying their bill. What happened to discussion?

sorry to say but weezy f baby is a far diverse artist that fiffty

the problem with the likes of 50 is he only had one style of rap

wayne aint scared to try anything, to the point of rockin zebra leggings

wayne aint goin anywhere, he in for the long haul....

jay stans need to accept this

also if u look at waynes sales they have been steady, even his rock album went gold, the album before carter 4 is plat, carter 3 is still selling

this guy is very consistent, because he "reinvents" himself....next will be his retirement gimmick, followed by his out of retirement gimmick, another way to create buzz

2 and 3 are not true. There are rappers eating WELL being true to themselves. Its the talentless gimmicks that are struggling. Yo Gotti is a perfect example. He doesn't have a studio album to this day and he doesn't have a top 40 song on the radio. Hell i don't even know what label hes signed to if he is signed to one BUT the nigga is eating and eating well strictly off mixtapes and touring. Its ur approach to hip hop that dictate whether u succeed or fail.

Also we ARE able to think for ourselves. I like Lil Wayne cuz i like his music. Its not about i saw him in the jeggings or his 300 tattoos and thought i wanna be like him.
