Man, I come back on this site and see Jamaicia still up to his old tricks and HRap still droppin knowledge. If you go back to those threads in 05/06 you will find cats saying how that current generation was wack compared to cats from 00/01 and so on and so forth. This happens all the time and people tend to forget all of the things that happened and try to focus on the bad parts. SMH...but props to Hrap for that post. Brought back a whole lot of good memories and was on point.

Around 05/06/07 you had the vets holding it down like jay, nas, LL, busta, Luda, cam, ti, Wayne, snoop.

Then the good/decent new rappers like kanye, game and banks.

Then you had a laundry list of wack one hit wonder/ringtone rappers

Mike jones

Paul wall

Dem franchise boys

D4L

Dj unk

Boosie

Webbie

Kia shine

Jibbs

Lil mama

Mims

Soulja boy

Dj webstar

Crime mob

Playaz circle

Juelz Santana

Yo gotti

Rick Ross

Yung joc

Plus whoever else I'm forgetting

While the quality of rappers is improving the people who are actually getting exposure is narrowing even more, so i cant really agree whole heartedly. One good thing is that a lot of these new rappers have the tendency to keep it atleast moderately real despite how boring and/or insignificant their lives really are.

2006 and 2007 were great years for Hip Hop overall. There just weren't any fresh, new artists bringing quality to the table with the exception of a few.

I can agree with this thanks to the vets holding it down in those years.

At least I know the future of hip hop is in good hands. Back around 06/07 I was worried with soulja boy and plies being considered the "future"

its beginning to get impossible to have a discussion on here because people take everything so literal and pick and choose then twist shit to their own defnitions. Readin this thread made my head hurt. Prop to HRap for clearing things out and sifting through the bullshit answers bein given. smh @ niggas actin like Joell Ortiz had enough impact to overshadow that D4L & Dem Franchise Boyz was the norm

I thought I made this thread. But yeah, no more of them dancing ass one hit wonders and new rappers are actually rapping again.

This is how it goes in order past 1999

This era> early 00s where everyone wanted to be a gangster> The snapping ass era in the mid 00s.

Hell yea. Back then, I felt like one of the last mohicans lol...

I'm listening to C.R.E.A.M. while everybody around me was rocking to this

I felt like the culture was dying...

Outside of parties, that was some terrible music to listen to.

Lupe 06>>>the new rappers of today

Lupe came out in the worst era as a lyricist. That was when these kids could not comprehend a 16 bar verse to save their life. If you were not an established rapper, you had to be a dumb ass rapper with catchy hooks and beats for attention, or you starved.

If you display a broad vocabulary then you're considered a "dictionary" rapper. Shit makes no sense.

Yeah, if your vocab is more than 2 syllables, people thought that you tried to be Canibus LMAO. It was the Hair Metal Band music off rap.

There is some kind od tendency to bitch about everything happening at the time. Wherever it's politics, music, movies or condition of living, people are always complaining. Hip-Hop is in better place right now plain an simple. At least there is some breathe of fresh air in the music, diversity , creativity and hunger among young MCs. I take J.Cole, Saigon, Kendrick Lamar, even Drake over Ying Yang Twins, Lil Jon, Mims or Jacki-O anyday.

I believe mainstream music is still trash. its a lot less ringtone rap and simple club tracks (even though those will never die). The quality in rappers is about the same. what changes the game now is the fact that EVERYBODY downloads mixtapes or bootlegs so underground rap or less known rappers get more followers than they did 5 or so years ago. plus a lot of rappers were in line to blow up...just needed the dust to settle on all the dance records

I couldn't disagree more . The quality of music was better. From the tracks from the one hit wonders to the heavy hitters of the game. A 06-07 lil wayne >>> 2012 lil wayne; A 06-07 Kanye West>>> WTT Kanye West; A 06-07 Jay-Z>> WTT Jay-Z I can keep going. I wouldn't even say the quality of artists coming in the game is better. A lot of big faces we see now came in the game round that time. Wale,Lupe,Wiz etc etc . Jamaica just saying this because the south had the game in 06-07. H.A.N

You know what's funny...is 5-6 years ago people had the exact same complaints as they do now...Jay ain't the same, he selling out...Wayne lost it, he just rambles about bullshit and he's gay....it's the same shit being said now

Notice how the shrewd and sinister Jamacia included Rozay on his list of ringtone rappers and whack one-hit wonders.

Since 2006 Rozay has 3 Gold albums, 3 platinum singles, 1 Gold album and multiple hits so his inclusion on your list was based on the intense hatred that you have in your heart for him.

I would have to disagree. Right now with the whole crew thing and focus on lyricism is a good thing, but when I think of the last few big albums that came out like Take Care, Roman Reloaded, & Carter IV. They weren't that Hip Hop to me. The Hip Hop essence from 5/6 years ago to now has withered. Look at all these respected rappers like Slaughterhouse and BIG KRIT. They're having a hard time pushing their records.

niggas sick saying Boosie a ringtone rapper

dude is better than your fav rapper more than likely

Jamacia is a dick head

hell naw...when a racist cracka is sellin da most hiphop recordz when eva his album dropz i say hiphop is n a WORSE place now than 5/6 yrz ago..
