all of the heavy hitters in rap were offset by the smorgasbord of new wack niggas coming in. now its hot to for younger artists to be lyricists again.

Cole, K.Dot, Drake, Stalley, Wale, Meek, Dom Kennedy, Wiz (he flow when he want to), etc.

its not even a comparison breh.

None of those dudes are even close to lyricists ... you can't be serious.

I couldn't disagree more . The quality of music was better. From the tracks from the one hit wonders to the heavy hitters of the game. A 06-07 lil wayne >>> 2012 lil wayne; A 06-07 Kanye West>>> WTT Kanye West; A 06-07 Jay-Z>> WTT Jay-Z I can keep going. I wouldn't even say the quality of artists coming in the game is better. A lot of big faces we see now came in the game round that time. Wale,Lupe,Wiz etc etc . Jamaica just saying this because the south had the game in 06-07. H.A.N

Exactly.

J. Cole's not a lyricist? Kendrick Lamar's not a lyricist? Drake's not a lyricist? your opinion is asscheeks.

compared to G4Boys, V.I.C., Soulja Boy, Dorrough & all the other lame do the dance rappers from the mid 2000s, those dudes are a MAJOR upgrade.

Yes because hearing this is why I'm hot by mims>>yolo

The young artists coming in the game are better than they were back around that time. Ying yang twins, lil Jon, crime mob, Paul wall, mike jones, d4l, jibbs, dj unk etc were getting the most spins. Fastforward to now and drake, wale, Cole, tyga, etc are getting spins say what you want about them but that's a step up from mims and chicken noodle soup

Drake was out in 2007,Wale was out in 06, big sean was out in 07 , Paul and Mike Jones were doing they thing way before still tippin and that was 05, So i get a year too Kid Cudi came out in 08, etc etc Nicki Minaj came out in 07. We can keep going most of the people that are big in the game now came out around that time. Ross came out in 06 again what are talkin about exactly . that Playa Circles joint with 2chainz came out in 07.

By your logic jay z been out since 86 and Gza since 84. I'm excluding Ross and 2 chains since they were out around that time. Drake, Sean and wale didn't get signed til around 09. They may have been rapping (obviously) around 05-06.

Big Sean got signed to G.O.O.D in 05 Wale Nike Boots Single came out in 07 thats what made him big, Saigon also came out about 07 Joe Budden Mood Musik 2 came out 07, i can keep on going . American Gangster, Graduation, Food and Liquor, Finding Forever, The Cool etc etc.

Big Sean wasn't out until 2010/2011, wale in 09. Idk why you bring up budden, Saigon, or lupe. I'm not talking about veteran rappers this thread about how the rappers coming up now are better than they were around 06/07. Of course there are exceptions

I have to agree with this. The current rappers dropping now are saving the game. More rappers coming out nowdays are a lot more lyrical than the ones that just started to blow in '06/'07

Thank goodness that the game got somewhat back to the point in time where you had to have lyrics to blow. It's not completely there yet, but it's getting close IMO

Lupe first album ain't come out til 06 and Farenheit 1/15 series, Food&Liquor Leaked and Retail killing Cole,Lamar and anybody you wanna name catalog . Shit young dro first album came out in 06 and its better than Drake first album and cole first album . Joell Ortiz first shit came out in 06 since we just counting albums and shit or whatever the fuck criteria you going by .

That's nice but what does that have to do with the rappers coming out now being better than they were around 06/07? I said in a earlier post that there are exceptions and lupe and Joel Ortiz are the few exceptions. But for every lupe there was a Kia shine. Now a days the good rappers are outweighing the weak ones.

There is a difference between saying that someone is wack and that you dont like an artist music though. Saying someone is wack is something that can be disproved, saying that you dont like someones music is just an opinion.

I overstand what Jamacaia is saying despite all the semantics by people who can't overstand what he's saying.

All my DJ's got that photographic-HipHop memory so I know y'all remember 6 years ago let's say 2006

2006 was a crazy year, everybody was disappointed with "Kingdom Come", the West Coast was riding with Game in his war with 50 and bumping "Doctors Advocate", the South was feeling they self but in they emotions because Nas said HipHop was dead and the South dropped T.I., Luda, Ross, Young Joc, & Jeezy and ran with it.

The ringtones was heavy that year with "Laffy Taffy", "Oh I think they like me" "Grillz", "Rodeo", "Lean wit it rock wit it", "Hustlin" "It's goin down", "MoneyMaker" & of course "Ridin Dirty"

...if my memory serves me correct.

That "Vans" song from LiL B and The Pack was buzzin heavy in the West, Midwest I was playing Ray Cash but Lupe was buzzed up, down south they was saying "Throw some D's on that bitch"...

Nas got nostalgic, Luda got conscious, Outkast disappointed, LL showed his age, Snoop showed his youth, T.I. took his crown, & Ghostface solidified his legacy

Standouts for me that year my fab 5 were "Fishscale", "Hell hath no Fury", "HipHop is Dead", "My Ghetto Report Card" &

" Doctors Advocate"....5 singles I burned out was Why you hate the Game", "What you know bout that", "Imagine", "Hustler Muzick", & "Black Republicans",

If we going to compare 2006-2007 with 2011-2012 then I suggest people jump in their mental time-machine and go back to that era but what you will find is that after 2007 its been LIL Wayne's party so if HipHop is in a better place it's with Wayne at the steering wheel.

Man, I come back on this site and see Jamaicia still up to his old tricks and HRap still droppin knowledge. If you go back to those threads in 05/06 you will find cats saying how that current generation was wack compared to cats from 00/01 and so on and so forth. This happens all the time and people tend to forget all of the things that happened and try to focus on the bad parts. SMH...but props to Hrap for that post. Brought back a whole lot of good memories and was on point.

Getwitcha

In 2006 people was fiendin for every new Lil Wayne track, freestyle or verse. From 2006 til 2008 he really was the best rapper alive. Dipset was big. Max B and Lil Boosie were free.

New rappers like Kendrick Lamar only have fans cause people want some new shit. They wanna be fans again. Wanna be part of a movement like back in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Nope not even close. You know why they're not lyricists, because the shit they say is simple and not thought provoking. Even though I don't rap and wouldn't play myself trying to rap (due to my own personal standards of what GOOD hip-hop), I could literally pick up a pen right now and go bar for bar with average-ass J.Cole and Drake, as could a whole bunch of other people.

Could I say the same about Nas? Hell no.

JayZ? Nope, even though he dumbed it down heavy, he's still WAY better than average.

Kanye? Nope, when he's on, he's crazy dope.

Wayne? Nah dude has impeccable delivery and his wordplay is dope when he puts in work... and the list goes on and on. Lupe? Nope, nah dude's wordplay is crazy.

Ludacris? Nope, crazy flow.

Jadakiss? Nope, ill punches etc.

Busta? Nope, flow is crazy and he has bars when he wants to.

J.Cole? I'd could hang right with his, "my album is like your girl, she ain't come/cum yet." or Drake's "you're like the finish-line I can't wait to run in to you" wack shit.

And no they're not an upgrade from Lupe '06, Kanye '04, Ross '06, Jeezy '05, Juelz '03 and all the other 2000s rappers who actually matter. You're using 1-hit wonder club dudes trying to make some weak ass argument. Stick to the official rappers who have a real fan base.

One of the few times I actually agree with what H-Rap just said... Wow...

Now if you would just stop dissing Shady in the other 95% of your posts, I would enjoy your posts a lot more...

It's still trash if you're talking about mainstream rap, otherwise i'd have to say it's a little better because I was bumping K.Dot, Wale, and a few others shit all through 07. I would say that fans are now more open to search for new artist but a lot of the rappers blowing up now were around then, just more underground.
