you go to college to be a teacher, lawyer, doctor, engineer etc. if your not going to do those things you should go to vocational school simple concept. Don't go to school and get a fucking degree in general studies or some bullshit

college is a debt creation machine, just like mortgages, and credit cards. it is so unbelievably expensive and you'll be lucky to get a faction of what you paid out of it.

IMO what I hear is Obama and the administration stessing the importance of college and finding ways to get those who want to go into the schools. reality is, not everyone wants to go, and not everyone is built for college. Not going to talk about college debt/jobless rate but i'm sure some ppl are hating that $100K w/ interest piece of paper and they are working a fast food job. Not knocking college but it is a business first, institution second. Just like wall street/bank/home lending etc.. college reforms are needed too.

Might as well go to a community college get a degree and work your way up the ladder. At the rate these jobs are leaving the country what's gone be left to go to a University for anyways? Once I get my degree I'm calling it quits b/c what's the point in racking up thousands of dollars in debt for.

$20k or @$200k ?

I assume u mean $200k. If you can get on then it is worth it.

Nah...$20,000....if I had $200,000 worth of debt, I'd shoot myself with a sawed off

They're right but there's no way to implement that without, like someone said earlier, pushing certain groups of people in different directions. I already saw a story on TV about a proposal to turn some 4 year programs in college into 2 year programs that go straight into the meat of things since most people don't learn anything from the BS courses they have to take their first 2 years.

I disagree in that kids in middle school do not have the mental capacity, maturity level, or experience to determine what they'd wanna do with the rest of their lives. Most people don't even have that capacity til they've been exposed to more things. Ironically that's probably about halfway through college.
