Niggas were nice for their generation. But they pretty much like the Nellys or Chingys of their era. Eric Sermon solo is dope and is worthy. But EPMD fits into that "They were one of the first so lets give it to em and pay homage" groups. Its about longevity. If niggas wanna pay EPMD homage now, 30 years from now niggas gotta praise Souljah Boy for what he's done to bridge rap and ring tones.

i get why he doesn't want hip hop in the hall of fame but i hate when ignant white people don't get how hard it is to construct a hip hop album or song over rock. Yes certain rock music is hard to play but most of the shit on the radio is easy as fuck. Country and rock in the mainstream is 3 chords and most times someone else wrote the song especially country.

In hip hop while you do not play instruments most times creating verses and entire albums is hard as fuck compaired to other genres. You have to write 3 times the lyrical content. In pop/country/rock You have a couple key words like truck/dirt road and beer and its a top selling country song. Its not that easy even for gimmick hip hop artist to make a hit song.

Bill maher was saying the same thing to jay-z most rock lyrics can fit on a napkin its not multi layered like something from Nas, Jay-z or any of rapper of that caliber.
