From Reddit: Black peoples' position in the world is due to indolence not racism

Like all race related issues, it's driving theme is blame. Most arguments are either placing the blame on whites or placing blame on blacks.

Probably gonna get some flack for this but I think we should just ignore white ppl period and focus on getting our own shit together. Racism exists but so does overcoming the obstacles in place because of racism.

We literally have an entire continent ripe for development by means of the American dollar. Our money and energy is being wasted. Going back to Africa isn't that bad of an idea. It took some time and maturity for me to actually understand what that means and now that I do, it seems like the best course of action for black America. Take our America resources and skills and build up our our nation. But idk man. Something on that scale would require total uniformity amongst us all and I don't see that happening any time soon.

The idea of going back to Africa sounds and appears amazing. However, there's a huge road block there as well. Aside from language and cultural differences which, can be overcome, Europeans and now the Chinese have huge influence\ownership in Africa. I believe we would face the same issues as we face here in America. We will have successful people but the majority will still suffer.

He neglects the source of the flaws. I already shit on his post in that reddit thread. This was my response.

It's in large part a consequence of the destruction of family and community. You even allude to it in your example of Jewish peoples success. Being stripped of their binding cultural identity, plagued by poverty, constantly having families torn apart by violence (police brutality and an alarmingly disproportionate rate of military enlistment), unfair drug laws incarcerating black males for crimes that would yield wrist slaps for white offenders, inadequate access to social programs to address these problems, and disparities in educational opportunities and funding provided for Black students, all put the African diaspora at a huge disadvantage that is not comparable to the Jewish one. Need more proof? Look at the success of more recent African immigrants, who are not subject to many of those things I outline.

He tries to compare African Americans to other groups, yet he completely neglects the dissimilarities between the groups. These dissimilarities are a product of racism, and are perpetuated by the very same racist systems that created them. "Look at the jews and how they succeeded in spite of their persecution" is not a great analogy. Jews benefit greatly from their manufactured "whiteness".

Pan-Africanist who deal with these issues and think tanks that are unknown to most African Americans who are already developing and demonstrating plans that actually work, but most don't know PH.Ds on the ground working.
