Reguardless if you are a fan of Ross or not. Shoot, I'm a fan but I can't give him a pass for this. He clearly got his name from Ricky Ross period if the original person you basing your lifestyle off of doesn't approve of what your doing then you need to man up and pay homage. Period.

On the street when you take someone’s name and image the first step is to properly approach them, then you can be the lil homie, if they accept. But because he thought I was the walking dead he just stole my name and image.

Both Rick Ross and Freeway influence the community in a bad way. You can't deny that Freeway Rick have had a way more negative influence than Rick Ross the rapper though. The only thing Rick Ross is really doing negatively is the image he represents and the amount of media representation he's able to get from it, real or not, versus a national drug dealer with ties to gangs who with the amount of money he made probably has helped destroy and kill alot of families. Anybody with a brain knows who's done the worst in our communities.

I don't like that Freeway Rick kind of takes pride in what he used to represent though. Even though he claims he's a changed man it's that same story where he kind of looks at it like a badge of honor or respect and that has helped the creation of the image we see in the rap game which has helped destroy the minds of young black people with that jail mentality.

Our own dignity and self respect? Let's say Ross kept the CO thing going, kept that football scholarship, went to school and became, let's say a lawyer or something. The Major thing here is that Ross, the hustler, is a real, living figure who is now free, from the Feds, and is seeing his likeness (name) being used and profited from by the rapper Ross. If some dude co-opted Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, or any other living famous or infamous persona, there would be a law suit coming. It's not like William Roberts was born Richard or Rick Ross, he took the name because of the exploits of LA's Rick Ross and co-opted his name and story to become a rapper with 'connections' to the street.

I don't hate Ross (the rapper) for this, however, a real hood dude, or even a dude with ethics and morals, would show Ross (the hustler that did football numbers in the feds), respect and honor (in the form of some bread) for allowing him to use his likeness.

He did sue Freeway and they settled in court and I believe Freeway actually chopped it up with him as well over the issue

Rick Ross was asked about this on Homegrownradio.net and he covered his feelings on MMG Rick Ross and Freeway. Freeway was respectful towards Ross and spoke to him about it. Ross on the other hand has ignored it.
