Who gives a shit what he does?

Where is batman?

Basically the show hinges on whether or not we get actual batman at some point

If its just Jim Gordon and a bunch of villain origin stories without Batman expect this show to be less interesting.

I'm expecting a lot out this series and if it's written properly, the shit will be the GOAT. I've always said that a series chronicling Bruce before he donned the cape and cowl would be the shit. I personally like how Gotham became the "Detroit," of the DC Universe, why Edward E. Nigna has an obsession with riddles, how will the writers not make the Penguin wack, will they incorporate the JSA for example, with the original Green Lantern be in it. Will The Reaper, (potna from Year 2,) be it. I just hope they don't give Mr. J a definitive origin. For me, the Joker works best when he doesn't have a definitive origin, and he's doing shit, to quote Alfred, "Just to see the world burn."

you seen the mask of phantasm? Joker kinda has an origin in that One..

Meet the future Batman and Catwoman.

by Eric Goldman MARCH 4, 2014

A ton of casting news has come in for FOX's upcoming TV series Gotham recently, but today two major components were added with the announcement of who is playing Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, the final series regulars for the show.

David Mazouz (Touch) has been cast as the preteen Bruce Wayne. The press release describes Bruce as, "sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Serious and soulful, young Bruce relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon."

A newcomer, Camren Bicondova has been cast as Selina Kyle, "a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered."

Gotham Set Photos Reveal Young Gordon and Penguin

No, Jim Gordon doesn't have a mustache or glasses.

by Jim Vejvoda MARCH 17, 2014

FOX has officially begun shooting their Batman prequel series Gotham and already photos from the New York City set have found their way online.

The pics (posted at Batman-News) reveal that Ben McKenzie won't sport either a mustache or glasses as young James Gordon. The set photos reveal McKenzie filming a rooftop chase scene that sees Gordon draw his gun.

There were also photos revealing Robin Lord Taylor as a dapper young Oswald Cobblepot, aka the man who will be Penguin.

Joker, Riddler, Two-Face Teased in New Gotham Synopsis

Plus, the Fox show’s logo also has been revealed.

by Scott Collura MARCH 11, 2014

Fox has revealed the logo and official synopsis for its upcoming non-Batman Batman show, Gotham. And several familiar villains have been mentioned in that synopsis -- if in oblique terms -- including the Joker, Two-Face, and the Riddler. First up, here’s the logo:

The blimps are a nice effect. And here’s the synopsis:

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world's greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon's story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world's most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

Growing up in Gotham City's surrounding suburbs, JAMES GORDON (Ben McKenzie, “Southland,” “The O.C.”) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. Now, two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and engaged to his beloved fiancée, BARBARA KEAN (Erin Richards, “Open Grave,” “Breaking In”), Gordon is living his dream – even as he hopes to restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.

Brave, honest and ready to prove himself, the newly-minted detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue, “Sons of Anarchy,” “Terriers,” “Vikings,” “Copper”), as the two stumble upon the city's highest-profile case ever: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the sole survivor: the Waynes' hauntingly intense 12-year-old son, BRUCE (David Mazouz, “Touch”), toward whom the young detective feels an inexplicable kinship. Moved by the boy's profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.

As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham's criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss FISH MOONEY (Jada Pinkett Smith, “The Matrix” films, “HawthoRNe,” “Collateral”), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction's most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged SELINA KYLE/the future CATWOMAN (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova) and OSWALD COBBLEPOT/THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor, “The Walking Dead,” “Another Earth”).

Although the crime drama will follow Gordon's turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain SARAH ESSEN (Zabryna Guevara, “Burn Notice”), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, ALFRED (Sean Pertwee, “Camelot,” “Elementary”). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he's destined to be.

GOTHAM is based upon characters published by DC Comics and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Executive producer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist”) wrote the pilot, which will be directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the “CSI” series, “Nikita”).

I dug the trailer. Definitely will check it out. People are pissed off that there won't be any Batman but I think it's cool they'll explore young Bruce Wayne.

Kind of looks like it will be like Batmans version of SmallVille

thank you for confirming that i will never watch this show lol

If they wanna do a new Batman TV show, they should go ALL IN and do it right. Ben Afleck, big budget, 10 episode "television event", tie it in with the new movies. They did that, it could be revolutionary and take this new Golden Era of TV to the next level. Think Agents of SHIELD on steroids.

But whatever. Even if Gotham is GOAT we all know Fox will ship that shit off to Friday nights after a season.

This shit always sounded dope and the trailer just reaffirms it. Never understood the hate. Jada Pinkett-Smith's character looks dope from that trailer.
