well then what the fuck is your point, "Jamacia"?

you're insisting that people wanna claim j cole and jay electronica as ny rappers even though that isn't true. so i'm using examples to make my point which is that their style has a new york flavor to it, it doesn't mean they are ny less southern.

I'm glad J. Cole and Jay Electronica are up next because they are dope, I don't care where they are from.

And yes, Cole and Jay Elect have some east coast style.

"I'm just a down south nigga, lil' east coast flow"
- J. Cole, Good Game

Jay Elect may have acknowledged it too, but I can't remember. He's clearly influenced by Biggie, although... who isn't.

influence is one thing
to outright say a nigga is an ny artist is a completely different thing

then clearly i'm not talking to you
i'm talking to the niggas that are saying that they are ny artists because of their influences

Did this nigga say the south slept on 8Ball&MJG? Really nigga?

*exits thread*

Honestly, 8 & MJG should have had far more support from the south than they have gotten over the years but the problem was that they were too versatile for the typical southerner. MJG & 8ball fanbase came more from the west-east-midwest than the south.

I remember when he spoke up about east coast haters he admitted that the Wu influenced his style.

other question... did the south embrace J.Cole and Jay Elect early on? They both made it by coming to NY

Jay Z and Just Blaze had a pretty big role in their success

everybody from tha south don't and talk country as hell like Gucci Mane to be honest w/ cha.

most of them rappaz mentioned do sound southern n they influenced by tha artist that became before them just like everyone else is. North Carolina niggas neva really talked dat country. Yelawolf country as hell. Pill too, both of them niggaz sound country as fuck.

Yeah, whats funny to me is niggas quick to sterotype the south but when they do it back they get all mad
