I've lived in DC my entire life and I get told sometimes I don't sound like I'm from around here because I got out of the habit of stretching out the "r's" in my words so my accent has minimized somewhat...it happens when you leave and go other places and given that J. Cole lived in NY for 4 years minimum at school his accent probably adjusted over time

But NC is country and when i lived there i was bouncing around all over that state and like i said SOME speak clearly but majority of them dont well the Majority i met......

the people you met don't speak for an entire city/region so unless you have spoken to every person in Fayetteville then what you're saying has no ground to stand on...and there's some places I can show you in Northern VA and southern MD and Eastern MD that will have you thinking you're about three seconds away from hearing somebody yell out "Massa comin" so you might want to broaden your horizons on what country is and realize that rural and country are 2 very different things...there's alot of RURAL area in the south because there's more space but when you're in the real country you have no doubt about it...there's no guessing that shit...like you said with Delaware...one of my boys from college is from Delaware and he can sound country as hell but because he grew up in Delaware, rural area, but he's a very up north type of person

tha south didn't sleep on those type of artist. they just didn't get any exposure because radio dj's broke artist commin outta tha south and tha only place they looked for new artist was in tha club. that was mainly tha only way to get on.

Well, the South slept on literate artist such as Little Brother, Cunninlynguist, Eightball & MGJ even, J-Cole and pretty much any artist that didn't make music about a dance. If it didn't sound like something that come from the cheering section of a southern football game then it wont get anywhere in the south. If the artist use too many syllables in one word, or can define one word 3+ different ways or just make a coherent sentence then it will be slept on. Lets just be honest.. It's gotta be on a Ying Yang Twin/Lil Jon or Wacka/Gucci/OJ da Juice Man type of style to get the common southerners attention. (Not southerners in a hip hop forum)

Every rapper I named is way more respected and well known to southern heads than Ying Yang, Lil John, Gucci, and OJ. And even then, ain't nothin wrong with those 4 artists either.
