So......niggas are able, to say with a straight face "dr dre swan song lived up to his standard of excellence" hahnahhanahhanhahahahhah. Either I'm insane or im ahead of the curve. This shit was decent at best.

My nigga... Whats the problem? My only knock is there aint alot of substance subject matter wise but the lyrics are on par. All the featured rappers spit with resurgence and hunger and of course the beats bang... Its the Chronic 3 album without a weed song...

That nigga is a weirdo, that's the problem. Talking bout "we" got played LOL

Stew callin me a wierdo, imagine that.......

You not lyin on none of that, production is dope, and mixed down on the highest level. Lyrics is on par, dre sound like he was spirited and all that. It's just off. I'm out here lookin for an uncompromising west coast gangsta album. Dre's first two albums sounded like we was walkin through compton, so when I hear the album is called "compton", I wanna damn near go to the swap meet. This didn't give me that feeling, it's dope, but the soundscape is off, the environment is way off for the most part. This is slick for dre putting the stamp on his career which is exactly what he's doing. This is an album about Dr Dre, cool... But Dre's albums was about compton before. The perspective is different, which translates to the vibe bein off for me. It's a 8/10 for what it is, but I want big screen tvs, blunts, 40s, and bitches.. Game's song is the best example of what a nigga was lookin for, he painted that picture.

I feel the traditional (sterotypical) topics like being a gangsta, smokin weed, fucking bitches and dippin in the 64 on switches are missing simply because the nigga is in his 50s now... outside of KDot everbody on there is 35-40+ years old. Its a more mature album

Dre was around 35 when 2001 dropped. I don't have to listen to them because they've been ingrained in my brain... But go back and listen to the chronic, and 2001 back to back, then play this right after that. Just because you grow don't mean your core sound change. Most, if not all of the linchpins of a Dr Dre album aren't there sans crispy production, mature or not.

From my understanding, this is the movie soundtrack. Correct?

If so, shouldn't this album be compared to other soundtracks that he's produced.

Hell no it ain't a movie soundtrack. It's his "grand finale".

I'm still not sure...........

Compton serves as the companion soundtrack to the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. The album features contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and others.

Dr. Dre had originally planned to release Detox as his third solo LP, but scrapped the multi-year project. “I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good,” Dre explained. “The record, it just wasn’t good … I worked my ass off on it, and I don’t think I did a good enough job.”

During principal photography, I felt myself going to the studio and being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album,” Dre said of Compton. “I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished. It’s bananas…. I’m really proud of this.”

I guess we'll know for sure once the movie debuts next week.

Either way, I don't see this being his 'Grand Finale".

You can tell that every emcee came with thier best bars outta respect for DRE. No weak mailing it in feature verses On this album. And no 50 cent = automatic classic

No place for generic and gimmicky rappers

So are people gonna analyze every bar Kendrick spits for Drake disses or actually continue to enjoy the music because I've seen niggas have dissertations on social media already and the album ain't even been out 24 hrs...niggas on some "oh shit he said the number 6...he saying fuck Drake" lol

Rather have niggas writing dissertations than fading while bumping trap and fast food music

Oh no Stew has favorite rappers what are we gonna do cause that's so weird!

It's not weird everyone has fave rappers the problem is how upset/angry u get if someone doesn't like those mentioned rappers music and thinks their music is not good at all

Why should it bother u if people don't like what u do or agree with how u feel about these rappers music as long as u like them that is all that should matter

It's not like the people that don't like their music will change their mind same way u are never gonna change your mind about Rich Homie Quan, Future, Max B, Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Drake

In life we all have different taste it is apart of life

NWA are legends icons but i feel they kinda commercialized Compton

Like when a white person who acting goofy uses Compton as the first refrence for ghetto
