Canibus IS better Lyrically than Big. Like some others said, he's got too much wordplay and his clarity of his delivery is almost unmatched when Big often sounded like a fat nigga with a stuffy nose. Big a better hit maker tho.

Everybody knows I think Jay so weak now that he shoulda been retired but I haven't been able to embrace the MF Doom swings that I've heard. I just haven't been able to get into that nigga like that but there's other underground cats that I do feel got more raw talent than Jay Z, even Joel Ortiz got hotter one liners than Jay to me but I'm just not into Doom

I've always thought this. To me, Cam and Beanie were way iller than Jay. Jay had a few catchy sing-along songs, but that's about it. If we talking straight spittin, Cam is definitely up there.

Big can say something as simple as "I know what it feel like to wake up fucked up, pockets broke as hell, another rock to sell" and it'll resonate to people more than "run a plot on a map and hyper space ya / from the society of scientific exploration". Bis is definitely advanced technically, but don't confuse that with lyricism. Big is miles ahead just by being simple.

That's Canibus now though. Canibus up to the year 2000 had a similar style to Biggie. Simple rhymes with ill flow and shock content, and that's when people say he was in his prime and a force to be reckoned with. Now he does that abstract form of rhyming on some Wu-Tang type shit, but more emphasis on science, and less emphasis on 5% street slang.

That's the whole thing tho... what memorable lyrics does Bis have? Yeah, he definitely has vocabulary and multisyllabics over Big, but when was the last time anyone has quoted a Canibus line? He's in his own little world lyrically, and it's interesting to hear him spit the way he does... but he can't move the crowd with words like Big. I know you mentioned the storytelling thing already, but name a Canibus story track with as much detail as Niggas Bleed or Somebody's Gotta Die.

But Atleast Big had above average beats to rap over his whole career so there's other factors involve in being a good enuff Mc to change the game. I feel you guys about Canibus short comings as far as song making you guys...Hell Snoop makes better songs but that don't mean you generally consider Snoop the better lyricist than Canibus as far as flow And metaphors do you? And with murder was the case Snoop prove he ain't shabby with storytelling either.
