At the end of the day tho, a lot of Haitians hate Haitians, which is another reason why they are still in the fucked up position. I feel like the newer generation of Haitian Americans (for the most part) are more proud of who they are and shit, but you still have the Haitian tom who refuse to associate themselves with Haitians or being one themselves due to their self hatred and self loathing. Long ass thread with a lot of misconceptions and generalizations. Being part Haitian descent, this pride thing is not just subjected to or exclusive to Hatians. You will find most people from The West Indies, or other countries in general have a sense of pride. That should not be mistaken for arrogance. It is because we know our roots, our history, something a lot of Black Americans that I know of do not either bother to find out/care or learn their history through books of fiction.

I learned Kreyol from my family here, just as my kids are picking it up. It's false to assume just because a certain group of people from a different demographic all behave the same way.

I have a lot of Jamaican friends, I only know a few Dominicans, and no they don't want to be called anything other than what they are, you cant mistake that for hating. They just know who they are and where they came from. Family is a big part of the culture.
