No. Nas doesn't run the same race as JayZ. JayZ is in the Wayne, Drake, Eminem, Ludacris race. He makes music for the sake of making money and increasing his brand.

In comparison, Nas makes music for the sake of making good music. He stays true to the art form by choice, and he knows the results of making pro-black, grown people music. He knows he's not going to sell as much as the artist who rides the "what's hot now" wave, so you can't feel sorry for him when he doesn't get the level of commercial success that the guys who are trying to get commercial success get.

Put Nas in the KRS-One, Lupe, Mos Def, Black Thought, Wu-Tang category. Not the major label, attention seeking list.

Yeah Nas gives his albums away for free so Africans can listen to pro black music while they starving. You know Nas worshipers kill me with this bullshit. KRS signed that Nike commercial deal or whatever and I guarantee that every cent went right into his check and he did not give a dime to charity like Jay has done several times. You treat him like a God but this is the same guy who left both his own moms and Ill Will moms in the projects while he drove around in expensive cars and lived in mansions. No one said Nas doesn't try to make money. EVERYONE has to feed their family. We said that money wasn't his SOLE purpose for making music like a lot of his peers. Nas strives to make good music for the sake of good music, and he tries to teach the youth through his lyrics. He does this knowing it will affect his bottom line, but he makes the sacrifice because that shit is important to him.

Also, LMAO @ giving money to charity (aka a tax write-off) being better than teaching the youth or people in general how to make it out of the situation. I take it you haven't heard of the piece of the pie vs. the recipe saying, have you? I could give the hood $5 billion right now and in 1 year that shit would be spent on material WANTS. You know why?
